Discussion of non-MCU Marvel titles like the X-Men or the Fantastic Four is also permitted. Ties to comics may be discussed, but this is not the primary forum for comics discussion (see the Other Media thread).
Spoiler policy: For broadcast TV shows, blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast. For movies and Internet streaming shows, whitefont all plot-related discussion until it's been in wide release two weeks. Dang, the movie has barely been out for 24 hours and the internet (including Apple News updates on my phone) is trying to spoil me about it. Calm your ass down, internet. (My brother saw it last night and said it's obvious who Sadie Sink* plays,** but it's still nice to not definitively know going in to the movie.)
*I'm not even sure who Sadie Sink the actress is, and now I can't look her up, because everything will be "Sadie Sink, the new Squirrel Girl [or whatever] in the latest Spider-Man movie..." Like I legitimately can't think of who she is, what she looks like, or what other stuff she's been in.
**So I would say it's not that obvious who she plays. At least, not to me. Though I would give a bajillion dollars for it to be Squirrel Girl.
I learned today she apparently has red hair?
She was Max on Stranger Things.
Okay, I didn't watch that but definitely know who that is from gifs galore.
Oh, right. I looked her up at some point, even, but did not keep the name in my memory for long. I will take this opportunity to watch the Spiderman trailer (so behind on my pop culture, sigh)
Spider-man 4:
Spider-menopause
was very good, even if it was at least 30 minutes too long. The post credits scene is totally skippable for someone like me who is, at best, a casual / occasional MCU enjoyer. (I get that it's a hint to something but I don't know enough to care about what it specifically is.)

I thought I was still a fairly involved MCU fan, but I still had to have my brother explain the post credits scene to me. (I mean, I got that it was
Ned's app,
but I didn't get the significance of
the Spider-Man icon being in space.
My brother says it's because
Spidey is on the Fantastic Four's ship with them.
Though I also don't get how that's going to happen. I just overall feel like I am Not Getting It.)
Anyway, though, yes, the movie was delightful! I really wasn't sure how the Punisher would work in a Spider-Man movie, but it turns out the answer is: very well!
I didn't guess ahead of time what character Sadie Sink was playing, but the reveal did make me say "Holy SHIT!!!" at full volume in a packed theater. So well done Marvel, I guess.
I am tickled pink by
Ned remembering Peter through the power of friendship
(and maybe
the suppressed Dr. Strange-like sorcerer powers
from the previous movie?).
I didn't get the significance of
The explanation I heard was that
the Spidey-signal never goes away in Queens,
but then a
second Spidey-signal shows up in outer space.
which suggests that
either Toby or Andrew will show up in the Doomsday movie.
It's unlikely that
Holland will show up (much) in Doomsday, given the overlapping shooting schedules of the two movies.
Oh dang, I didn't even consider
a *second* Spidey in outer space!
I am really off my game.
Unrelated to that, I'd like to point out that the movie confirmed that, canonically, Frank
has more cutlery than Kate Bishop does.
(Because, to me,
having 2 spoons implies having 2 forks and 2 knives, but Kate only has one
because, as
she said, she's only one person.)
And I think it's hilarious that the goddamn Punisher
has more flatware than rich-girl Kate Bishop
does.
Okay, I texted my bro to ask if he meant a
second Spidey off-planet (like Maguire or Garfield),
and he said no, he was just thinking that during
the events of Doomsday, the F4 would be in their ship doing off-planet stuff and Holland!Spidey would be with them.
Which I can see happening, but it's not as interesting as the idea of
a second Spidey. If the F4 are obviously coming from another universe, then they could grab an extra Spider-Man.
