See, in my fantasy, when I'm kissing you... you're kissing me. It's okay. I can wait.

not your mom's socks.

Still no power here. Undead tree down to two limbs. The neighborhood is completely wrecked. Peco says might be days for power. City says up to twelve weeks to inspect the tree.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

That bites, Sox. I heard about the power situation out your way on NPR while driving home. I hope you get power back sooner than expected.

Crap, Sox. That really sucks. Stay safe and warm!

Shrift, stay un-stolen-from!

Me, I spent the day running to dentists' offices with dad, and my back is killllling me. So happy to flop onto the futon with a glass of wine.

Looks like Dad's going to have his jaw wired shut for 4-6 weeks, poor guy. I can't imagine. I was going to go to Colorado to ski with the family next week, but I'm considering cancelling because I don't want to leave him alone. OTOH, what am I going to do? Buy him a blender, maybe.

Because books.

Ugh, Sox. I feel bad -- ours is back but my parents' isn't, and they're ground floor and freezing. I told them to come over, but we don't actually have enough beds for everyone, so they're huddling under the covers.

Your poor dad, Consuela. I hope he likes smoothies.

Oh Sox, I'm sorry. Glad the neighborhood is rallying.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh man, Sox! Good luck.

Your poor dad, Consuela! Are there food services at all where he lives?

Yeah, I talked to the health director, and she said all she needs is a doctor's order to make it happen. I suspect he'll have better-balanced meals there than at my house. But he's not a big guy, and he's 86. It's going to be rough.

Yeah, that's brutal. The last time (before the last last time) my grandmother was in the hospital, she was on the ground diet, and at least what I saw didn't look so bad. But I don't know if it would work for wired shut. I bet the drinkable diet is more extreme.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Oh, man. Between my mother's recovery, my mother-in-law's impending surgery, and the fact that the fucking fan motor for the heater has died in our Washington house, today has been a busy day. I got home from the hospital at 5 and I feel like I've been on the phone ever since.

My mother-in-law got very good results from her MRI -- no cancer detected anywhere else. She's having her mastectomy in two weeks, so I guess we get to do this roller coaster again.

Wow Dana. That is a lot to juggle at once. How is your moms recovery going? Good news for your mother in law. I hope the house repair is easy.
