Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Ugh Consuela, your poor dad!

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

so sorry Consuela - that's just wrong. Actually , my mechanic refused to pay an emergency room bill. he got metal in his eye - and could do nothing. ( eventually and eye surgeon did ) , but he refused to pay them for a diagnosis of metal in his eye when - yeah he knew that. Eventually he did pay something , but like a 10ht of what he owed

Perhaps we could do an iChat live reading of Alexander's no good very bad day for everyone.

I like this idea

Ugh, how frustrating and terrible, 'Suela.

Hil, in my experience, just highlight your commitment to social justice. You needn't justify it any more than that, or bring your religion or theirs into it any more than that. And I work for people who think the Jesuits are slacker Catholics.

When people ask how I can stand it I tell them about UC's icky loyalty oath.

Stockholm is lovely, but really expensive.

When I started work at UGA, I had to swear not to overthrow the government of Georgia. I never did try, but was on occasion tempted...

I am facing the amusing situation of teaching a grantwriting class at 10am at the main library, when the city is on a level 2 snow emergency. I seriously doubt anyone will turn up. But do I have to try to get to work for my scheduled start time of 8am anyway? Yes, yes I do.

Your library is hardcore.

Work just called liberal leave. Will see what the ice looks like when I'm showered and dressed. I may work from home for an hour or two. It's on the trees and deck, but it doesn't seem like the stuff coming down is freezing, so surfaces might be ok.

I can't tell how bad it is here. The highways look slushy on the traffic cams, which is a bad sign. But we didn't get the inch of ice I was afraid we would - the trees are not iced up.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

It's just started snowing hard here, and my job finally confirmed that we are open today. Yeah, no -- it's fine now, but only just started snowing hard! I was going to go in now and plan to leave early, when I finally got the email from my boss that she's planning to work from home and see about going in later. So I'm not going in!

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Spent the night at a hotel instead of driving home in the snowstorm. When I woke up I noticed the bedside clock wasn't showing "a.m." it was showing "AU." Uh - oh. Now I'm going to be spending all day looking for differences.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Snowing like a hamster here. The kind of storm where the mayor has a secret sigh of relief that he/she didn't call it a snow emergency for nothing.

Uh-oh, dcp. The radio didn't start playing "I Got You, Babe" -- that would be a Very Bad Sign.
