It's simple. I slap 'em around a bit, torture 'em, make their lives hell...Sure, the nice guys'll run away, but every now and then you'll find a prince like Spike who gets off on it.

Because books.

I think I've passed the "peri" part, or am about to. Anyone who's had experience with hot flashes willing to talk about them?

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That sounds like a nifty program. I couldn't do it right now, but seems like a good thing to keep in mind for the future.

It's that early-in-the-allergy-season time of year when my preventive meds aren't quite winning. I can stiff upper lip my way through the congestion, but I hate being so tired all the time. Should only be for another few days, maybe a week, I hope, and then I can stop feeling enormously stupid for moving to a huge almond exporting area when I know how my body reacts to all things almond.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Oh, thank dog. I thought I was relapsing into the 'flu. (I mean, I'm sorry you're stuffy too, but I am unable to cope with getting laid out again.)

Yeah, a big part of why I posted is I find myself thinking "why do I feel like crap?" way too often considering that, really, I know why. And it will pass, like everything does, but for once I have an idea of how soon.

ETA: cute widdle direwolves!

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

shit. Dad fell in the bathroom & hit his head, he's off to the ER.

Thank god he's in assisted living with an emergency call button.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Amy, I have, when I was unable to afford HRT for a month or so. They are CRAZY. I'd wake up, dripping with sweat in the winter, so hot that I'd open the back door and just bask.

And then I'd freeze. Then back to hot. My HEAD would sweat; not just my neck -- the whole head.

I'd also get flashes at the computer, and strip off to a tank and panties (again, in an already cool room). It's really annoying.

Oh no, Consuela! Yeah, glad the assistance was there.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Anyone who's had experience with hot flashes willing to talk about them?

Personal summers. Humid ones. Like Strix said, wake up at night drenched in sweat - I never realized before that "drenched in sweat" was literal, not hyperbolic. Have to wash my hair in the morning because my head got so sweaty at night. Hot, cold, hot, cold. I'm not taking HRT, but if my doctor recommends it, I might.

Because books.

Yikes, Consuela. I hope he's okay.

I think what's confusing me is that it's not really *flashes*? I mean, it comes and goes, but it feels really weird, like I'm boiling underneath my skin. On the surface, I'm not hot -- I can touch my arm and feel that it's cool. But inside, I feel like I'm burning up.

And I do get them during the night. I feel like Will Graham.
