Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Yay Dana's mom!
A woman I met in the park, once said of Bartleby (the Dalmatian/Basset Hound)...in a thick Southern accent, "Ih imagine, there was fernitcha involved."
Any time I see a Chusky-like mix, I think about furniture. It's unsettling.
What is true though is that dog's have a big well and there is always a way.
I sometimes shop for a second dog for Cagney.
I had these thoughts with Bartleby, but he would have hated that.
Cagney, on the other hand, loves other dogs so much, I just wonder if he would like a mate. I would have to be so, SO careful though.
Kato was so good with Chloe (and, apparently, with the Rottie that preceded Chloe...she [the Rottie] was 100% the alpha and Kato was on board with that). But he is not good with other dogs when I walk him. I know a lot of it is a territory issue, but he loses his damn mind. And I think he's settled into a one-dog groove pretty happily.
YAY mcphee for the sanity of 3 pets only.
K wants a puppy and I scoffed at the idea. I am already too busy. Now if she had offered a hedgehog, though illegal in California, I'd have said yes. But a puppy. HELL NO.
Steph, go see the doctor. With little people, I usually wait 2-3 days since little people seem to have super human healing power.
Last night I dreamed that I had a white kitten. It was one of those hyper vivid dreams. Been thinking about it all day but no more animals. Not happening.
Oh man, Kat. No. I would say if another dog is ever on the horizon, a nice easy 3 year old might be the way.
The Biscuit was two and house-trained by the time we got him. And so grateful and apologetic when he got back to health that he was, like, the best behaved dog ever. He's gotten over that bit, but still, I think I am so not prepared for any other dog at all, let alone a puppy.
But I do sometimes think about getting him his own dog. He's very social and I think he would like that, but I also think it would wear him out. And also I probably can't do twenty-four hour drives with two dogs in the car. Yeah, this is a bad plan.
I have been tempted to get Walter a dog, but I can't help but think that he has been abnormally easy to live with for both me and the cats and I should not push my luck. As he's gotten older he seems to want the company of other dogs a bit less, too. And he's got Wednesday who looooves him.
We all know that I don't get cats, they get me.
Older dogs seem to start aging rapidly when a puppy is suddenly in their life.
