Actual conversation at my work

coworker: how can you be Christian and Liberal?

me: cause Jesus was a big ol Leftie?

coworker: But he spoke against homosexuals and abortion.

me: please show me where

coworker: well well Paul, Jesus spoke through Paul.

me: Paul also says I shouldn't speak in church cause I am a woman and your wife is a minister. I have some issues with Paul.

coworker:......But I am still right.

me: look of disdain.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

My grandma was called Sadie (we found her birth certificate a few years ago and her name was actually Sarah Wynona!) so I am of course very predisposed toward cats named that.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Sadie looks fantastic.

me: look of disdain.

Appropriate! You should send your coworker up here to my job -- lots of Christians, lots of liberals.

He did not like me saying Jesus was a hippie. Nor did he like me saying that the modern church (last 1000 years or so) was WAY more obsessed with the sex stuff that I thought Jesus was. BUT, and here's the kicker, he really likes me as a person, so I am making him question all the Liberals are evil folks wanting to ruin our world thoughts. You can almost see the struggle in his brain. Also now I am pretty sure he thinks I am gay. GOOD TIMES!!

I possibly used the phrase oppressive patriarchy many many times. Also "historical, cultural context" and "flawed male interpretations" may have been said over and over again. I wondered allowed why Jesus never spoke through women or people outside of one region.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Over the weekend, the meteorologists thought the snow would be south of here, but by Monday afternoon, the NWS had issued a winter storm warning for metro Atlanta, and Monday night the TV weather people were saying 1-3" starting about noon. I know because I had one errand I had to run and I left myself a large note reminding me to do it first thing. Despite that, schools and businesses opened as usual, and then between noon and 1:30, they looked out, said "OMG, it’s snowing," and closed. The result was a holiday-weekend-level traffic jam added to snow and then ice. The state and local governments had equipment and de-icing stuff staged, but because of the nearly instant traffic jam, the equipment couldn’t get to the ice.

Yeah, New Orleans went in a different direction, and preemptively shut everything down for Tuesday and Wednesday by Monday afternoon. The ice wasn't as bad here at all as they thought it would be, so people are kind of rolling their eyes about the overreaction, but looking at Atlanta and Birmingham, I think the decision was a good one, because people really did stay off the roads and sheltered at home.

Although in my neck of the woods, it's just super cold, in other areas, there's crazy ice on bridges and if there were a lot of people out it would be a mess.

It could have gone one way or the other, and I have to say (again, looking at Birmingham and Atlanta) I'm glad they overreacted rather than underreacted.
