He did not like me saying Jesus was a hippie. Nor did he like me saying that the modern church (last 1000 years or so) was WAY more obsessed with the sex stuff that I thought Jesus was. BUT, and here's the kicker, he really likes me as a person, so I am making him question all the Liberals are evil folks wanting to ruin our world thoughts. You can almost see the struggle in his brain. Also now I am pretty sure he thinks I am gay. GOOD TIMES!!

I possibly used the phrase oppressive patriarchy many many times. Also "historical, cultural context" and "flawed male interpretations" may have been said over and over again. I wondered allowed why Jesus never spoke through women or people outside of one region.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Excellent. You'll bring him around yet.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Over the weekend, the meteorologists thought the snow would be south of here, but by Monday afternoon, the NWS had issued a winter storm warning for metro Atlanta, and Monday night the TV weather people were saying 1-3" starting about noon. I know because I had one errand I had to run and I left myself a large note reminding me to do it first thing. Despite that, schools and businesses opened as usual, and then between noon and 1:30, they looked out, said "OMG, it’s snowing," and closed. The result was a holiday-weekend-level traffic jam added to snow and then ice. The state and local governments had equipment and de-icing stuff staged, but because of the nearly instant traffic jam, the equipment couldn’t get to the ice.

Yeah, New Orleans went in a different direction, and preemptively shut everything down for Tuesday and Wednesday by Monday afternoon. The ice wasn't as bad here at all as they thought it would be, so people are kind of rolling their eyes about the overreaction, but looking at Atlanta and Birmingham, I think the decision was a good one, because people really did stay off the roads and sheltered at home.

Although in my neck of the woods, it's just super cold, in other areas, there's crazy ice on bridges and if there were a lot of people out it would be a mess.

It could have gone one way or the other, and I have to say (again, looking at Birmingham and Atlanta) I'm glad they overreacted rather than underreacted.

Seriously. Did you mention how Jesus hung out with prostitutes and lepers and y'know, tossed the temple? Said to do shit for the poor and that rich guys are gonna have a hard time getting to heaven? Etc, etc? Eesh. I mean, I'm not thinking he's going to magically BE liberal, but to not even understand how you could be liberal and Christian at the same time? Oy. (Plus...he does realize that "liberal" doesn't mean everyone believes the same thing and moves in lockstep? Does he think you're required to sign an oath to be an atheist homosexual who does abortions, therefore you can't be Christian?)

Yay Sadie cat!

I got an email from a manager (cc'ing the other manager) at 6:30AM asking the status of something. She emailed again at 8:30AM being all "WHAT IS THE STATUS I NEED THIS". I was like "Uh, the status is X, maybe you didn't realize I"m on the west coast and it's not yet 9AM here?" She was all "I assume people start work at 8AM so I was concerned". Ugh.

But I went to the coffee shop and got a yummy quiche, and ...need to start doing actual work.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Does he think you're required to sign an oath to be an atheist homosexual who does abortions, therefore you can't be Christian?

I am CERTAIN that some people do believe this.

On a slightly related note, did everyone catch the amazing "Please stay, Mr Hannity" PSA that Jon Stewart did Monday night after Sean Hannity threatened a classic internet flounce over Gov Cuomo's "Hard-core conservatives don't belong in New York" comments?

I remember talking to one good ole boy here a couple months ago, after telling him I was a liberal, he said something along the lines of "I can't believe you said that with pride. It's like telling me you just shit in your pants."

That was AWESOME. I had to go back and watch it a second time. It was right up there with Lewis Black's NY retort to Rick Perry last year.

Like Jessica, I know some people who assume liberals are all atheist homosexuals who perform abortions. Also, once someone learns I grew up in Berkeley, those assumptions go into hyperdrive.

My inbox is down to 4 e-mails. I just sent a note out to my PMs and a few others giving them one last chance to have me do something today - otherwise I'm logging off in an hour. I have errands to run.
