My dad should be going home from the hospital. They did a cardiac inversion which seems to have gotten his heart going in a rhythm that works. It's -16 below at their house today.

-1, feels like -14.
Oh yay, Kat!
Why Somerville, which is just as diverse (economically and culturally) and dense as you can get doesn't have these kind of problems, I have no idea, truly. I just pray that whatever "they're" doing they keep doing.
A downside to having shortish hair: when I don't want to wash it, I can't put it in a bun. I can't figure out any way to hide it, short of wearing a scarf over my head all day which I don't think I can quite pull off.
I'm glad he's headed home, Kat.
This weather pattern just blows.
-t -- on the other hand, with short hair, you can sprinkle on some corn starch or talcum powder and brush it thoroughly through and out. That works surprisingly well, at least for a day.
So I walked to the train station in the supposedly -35 windchill. I got kinda warm, so I guess I overdressed. The face mask made my glasses frost over so I took it off. Aside from that I was fine.
Eta: oops, windchill is only -26. That explains why I wasn't cold.
Thanks for the tip, Theo!
Good news Frank.
I just sent out an email canceling my classes for today. I'm already sick, and the windchill isn't supposed to get above -10 all day, and I just don't think my lungs can handle walking back and forth across campus in this.
