Natter 71: Someone is wrong on the Internet
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Even if I looked at the picture again I probably wouldn't (which seems NOT synesthesic if that's a word).
That's pretty key to my suggestion. Memories don't get triggered the same way every time, even when you repeat the stimuli.
If you were smelling something other than the subject of the picture, I could see the synaesthesia argument, but as things stand it seems to be a really straightforward trigger that's sometimes more effective than others.
There's nothing in any description of synaesthesia I've ever read (including just doublechecking the wikipedia entry to see if I was totally off base) includes something so textbook evocative. Those experiences are crosswiring and not as initially clearly linked (although there are similarities between experiences from synaesthete to synaesthete).
Memories don't get triggered the same way every time, even when you repeat the stimuli.
Isn't this the problem with eyewitnesses to crimes?
My favorite synaesthesia example was the guy I knew who wouldn't eat mushroom pizza because it was so noisy.
We should start a club, Cashmere. I'm considering dropping Facebook over hearing from mine.
I think I left my brain at home. I've been wondering all morning why so many people brought in baked goods today. I just processed that they are PIES.
I have no Djimon Hounsou and no pie!
I have passed from unfair into WOE.
Sparky, that is not just WOE, but WOAH! How could anyone not give you Djimon Hounsou OR pie?
