I need a "Calgon, take me away" vacation.

For Christmas I bought CJ tickets to see Jeff Dunham down in Colorado Springs. Fifth row tickets. The plan has been for CJ, K-Bug, and I to go tomorrow after his karate tournament. Well, we have some serious snow due in the Denver and South Metro (where we live) area...but it is supposed to be less as you get down to Colorado Springs. To say we have been looking forward to this would be an understatement. Now K-Bug doesn't want to go but she is willing to lend me her car (Jeep is better in the snow than the Mustang). I don't even know what I want to do at this point.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My sister is so cute when she's revolutionary.

Which is pretty much all the time, but still.

We have just discovered the comedy stylings of Hari Kondabolu and she's mining him for anti-power rhetoric. Interestingly (to me), the clip I saw of his on Tumblr was tagged for the feminist joke, but I think it's easily the weakest one in the segment: [link] Everyone has their priorities, and they influence the takeaways.

I'm trying to work out--if I had turned down fewer men, would I have someone making me hot and sour soup right now? Or at least reheating it? IS IT MY FAULT I'M SNEEZING ALONE??? (I usually don't get to the sneezy parts of colds--which is good bcause I hate sneezing--each one ruins a good ten minutes)

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Quiet weekend here. I have some errands to take care of, but that's it.

How about you?

Tuesday-Tuesday, shrift

Yeah, awkward timing is why I didn't sign on for Mexico. We have a new hire starting and I kind of need to be here to train her.

I'll probably regret this, but I said yes when my manager asked if I wanted to attend leadership training.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Is it in Nor Cal?

It would be *so* nice if my neuro remembered dilaudid was a controlled substance, which means the pharmacy needs an actual signature to dispense. Because if they don't get their shit together ASAP, there will be no nurse's visit this weekend, and who knows if that means I get Monday then next Sunday (since people are so attached to the 7-day window) or if they want me to, you know, go to the ER or something.

Let's just hope the pharmacy gets what they need.

Is it in Nor Cal?

Sadly, no. It's local.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

And the UCLA nurse liaison woman swears it will all be done and dusted. This would be impossible if not for her, and we've never even met. But she's been monitoring my case more than weekly since before the home orders got written, and it's nice knowing she's practically pragmatically on my side.

Unrelatedly: IO9 has balls-upped their community building. They've officially said that posting to the top level their natter-esque section is restricted to their beta testers, even after they go live. Us beta testers were picked because we're "prolific odeck [name of their natter section] posters" "who post often and add to the conversation" as they "curate for the perfect blend of quality and participation".

No, not gonna engender any resentment, even as you say you're watching to see who else you can add. No chance of that.

A couple of topic starters have relinquished their spots, with the intent that they're taken by someone more worthy, and there have also been a number of proposed and actual departures (fairly few flounces, considering) and they haven't even got to the bit where everyone hates the new software yet (it's actually got some nifty ideas, but also some really stupid ones--at least they managed some nifty this time, which I think was missing with their last two rollouts). Buggy as fuck.

IO9 already "employs" unpaid mods, and now they're trying to turn 20 of us into unpaid content generators with outright auditions (every user ID gets a blog, and you're encouraged to post there if you want to join the big kids table). I used to feel sorry for Charlie Jane and Annalee, but I can't any more.
