Well, a gathering is brie, mellow song stylings; shindig, dip, less mellow song stylings, perhaps a large amount of malt beverage, and hootenanny, well, it's chock full of hoot, just a little bit of nanny.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

And the UCLA nurse liaison woman swears it will all be done and dusted. This would be impossible if not for her, and we've never even met. But she's been monitoring my case more than weekly since before the home orders got written, and it's nice knowing she's practically pragmatically on my side.

Unrelatedly: IO9 has balls-upped their community building. They've officially said that posting to the top level their natter-esque section is restricted to their beta testers, even after they go live. Us beta testers were picked because we're "prolific odeck [name of their natter section] posters" "who post often and add to the conversation" as they "curate for the perfect blend of quality and participation".

No, not gonna engender any resentment, even as you say you're watching to see who else you can add. No chance of that.

A couple of topic starters have relinquished their spots, with the intent that they're taken by someone more worthy, and there have also been a number of proposed and actual departures (fairly few flounces, considering) and they haven't even got to the bit where everyone hates the new software yet (it's actually got some nifty ideas, but also some really stupid ones--at least they managed some nifty this time, which I think was missing with their last two rollouts). Buggy as fuck.

IO9 already "employs" unpaid mods, and now they're trying to turn 20 of us into unpaid content generators with outright auditions (every user ID gets a blog, and you're encouraged to post there if you want to join the big kids table). I used to feel sorry for Charlie Jane and Annalee, but I can't any more.

I think I made a holy small mess at work, and I'm still not sure how I got there. Mind you, it's not tragic or political, just a mess I get to clean up. I finally just had to leave cause I was so far down the hole I couldn't figure out anything. It needs fresh eyes on monday. Uhg.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Hooray for the UCLA nurse liaison! I am so glad you have someone on your side, ita.

I have run out of things to do, my supervisor is gone for the day, and my timesheet is already approved. Hard to motivate to be productive, but I have to stay awake somehow...

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I have run out of things to do

Me too

Maybe it's FCM time?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Hooray for the UCLA nurse liaison! I am so glad you have someone on your side, ita.

Yeah, that!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I am waiting for my steak to be delivered.

Well, we can try, but I can tell you now that whatever powers my decision making ability is seriously depleted...

BTW, y'all who mentioned the Colbert-Franco geek moment were totally right, that was beautiful.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

I want a steak to be delivered.

Shoot, I'd take a bowl of cereal at this point.

I'm in a crappy ass mood. I've hung up on my daughter at least once today. I'm not fit for human interaction. I've already apologized to CJ. Now that I'm done with work I should give myself a timeout and go to my room.

FCM: Tolkien, Colbert, Franco? Too easy?
