Mainly be cause a higher up (but not in my direct chain of command) invited me out to lunch to meet another highter up (also not in my direct chain of command). I'm curious beyond curious as to what is up.

They're recruiting you, is my guess. For a project or a position.

Which reminds me, Suzi: in about three weeks I'm going to start sending out resumes. Would you recommend I talk to the folks in your Oakland office? My background is primarily federal, although I have done state-level work.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I have no idea what the Harlem Shake is. I didn't want to click any links because I was afraid it was like Goatse or something.

(Does that make me ancient in internet years, to reference Goatse?)

I'm assuming it's not like Goatse? Or any other link most people would regret clicking?

Consuela - that is my guess too. I really like my current position and career path, so it would have to be something juicy to lure me away.

We do lots of federal, state, and commercial work, so there are lots of opportunities. Check the company web site for posted jobs. Send me an e-mail with specifics and I can try to get you a contact name.

Trust my rage

I like the idea of having an image thread. Often, I find myself referencing a picture or something and usually I just say "I put it on FB" but not everyone has FB so that limits the audience.

eta: and I think Suzi adds in the perfect corollary - I would not want to see our regular threads with images.

I'd rather see a dedicated image thread we can refer to, but allow and then disallow images in an existing thread. If I'm b.org-ing from work, I don't want images popping up.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Snowquester seems to have arrived in Boston, but even though a lot of snow has been coming down since this morning, it doesn't seem to be accumulating at all. It think it's just a little to warm for that. If we get any build up, I think it's going to be over night.

Hard to tell how really bad it is coming down, though, because it is windy as hell and the direction seems to keep shifting.

Thrive to spite them

I like the illustrated thread. Not everyone has facebook or Flickr accounts and it would be cool to have pictures of stuff - weddings, projects, babies! where we could comment as a community.

hwæt

If we do have illustrated threads, I would strongly lobby for only registered users being able to see the images.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

In theory I like the idea of an image thread, but do we have any idea how that will affect site bandwidth/speed? B.org loading quickly even when the rest of the internet has slowed to a crawl has always been a big feature in my book.
