Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

True Lemon is still having their offer where you can get free Lemon, Lime, Orange, or Grapefruit if you order more than $9.98 from their site: [link]. Do note that they have two lines: For Your Water and For Cooking, Baking, & Beverages. The former has Stevia and a wider range of flavours (lemonade, mango, iced tea, etc...), and the latter has the basic lemon, lime, orange unsweetened and some more savoury flavours (although orange ginger might make an interesting drink...).

Have you cooked with them at least a little? Worth it by being better than bottled or nearly as good as fresh or just eh? I am very tempted. I also wish I could find the magic "I only want to see your For Cooking stuff because stevia hates me so I hate it right back" button.

She is my OTHairstylist.

For her, you totally wait.

Papers are signed.

That must be a huge relief. I'm so pleased that the condo option is off of the table for good now. How are they adapting otherwise? I know I must have read but I can't remember.

If you guessed: "send an email to all attendees letting them know people want to carpool and urging people to reply to all to facilitate communication" you would be CORRECT.

Oh, as usual, dear. I think group texting is the family version of reply all. I got yet another text at 5 a.m. from my SiL that was apologizing for a flurry of group texting yesterday. Seriously, she knew it was going to everyone and she determined that 5 a.m. was the right time to send it.

Knee has a bone bruised patella and an inflamed bursa. RICE for the next 6-8 weeks. Crap. Oh, and find a compression thing that will fit my fat leg. Big picture, that is probably the best answer I could get, but still, crap.

That is probably the best answer for how much pain you were still in, Suzi, but still crap. At least there is a definitive thing wrong and a definitive plan. I hope the relief starts as soon as possible.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

[link]

It never ceases to amaze us, but the most common question Rolf and I got after our winter-over, when we spent 15 months on the Antarctic Peninsula, nine of which were in total solitude, was: Why didn't you two kill each other?

(...)

In hindsight, we can say that there are some guidelines for living in harmony in a confined space, and all of them fall into the category I call "simple, but not necessarily easy". One has to be able to give the other person mental elbow room. During our winter, when a person settled into the sofa in the salon with a book and started reading, he or she was not interrupted.

Keeping quiet when the person is close enough to practically read one's thoughts, is a matter of self-discipline, fuelled by caring.

Because books.

Ouch, Suzi. I'm glad you got it looked at. What does RICE mean, though?

Those 1970s pictures were fantastic, and really weirdly familiar. I remember living rooms like that.

RICE - rest, ice, compression and elevation.

Luckily I can do most of that while I work, maybe not full elevation. Just need to come up with a plan for compression. Ace wraps just end up sliding and strangling around my knee. I also need to talk with my sensei to see what I can do there so I'm not completely falling behind on training, but not stressing the knee.

But I got a great raise. My boss is happy with my work. Two of my Project Managers were playfully fighting over who had priority on my time. I'm gonna go with that and call the day a success.

I think it calls for cake, personally.

Thanks, Cass!

I have one like this [link] or this [link] that helps.

Mine is not as much with the total compression now because I've had it a really long time and washed it many dozens or hundreds of times, but it used to be good at compression too. Now it's more of a reminder that I should be careful when I do long walks or yoga. Especially yoga.

That is a great article, le n. Fascinating.
