Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

So I do a casual Google search, and he's got a baseball card any everything--and all the articles say he was a terrible player. I feel kind of bad for him, but of course I'm not going to say I just Googled him.

Well, a terrible player in the major leagues is still incredibly good compared to 99.9% of the population.

brillig

True enough. And in the World Series in your rookie year is still wonderful.

Though I asked, and his team lost.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

On the plus side, he wasn't lying ... jeepers, that's really setting the bar low, isn't it?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Even the kids on planes comments took a detour into "breastfeeding is exactly like changing a diaper and you shouldn't do either in an airplane seat because ew" mode! I can't escape!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Man, I made an old guy's day at lunch. Or, at least, his hour. I was looking for hardware for my parents' network, and I was pointing stuff out, and he said "No, maybe you should get this...". I asked why, and he said it was because of the settings I'd need to disable. I said "Oh, I was going to flash it with dd-wrt and override it that way."

He about had kittens. Happy kittens. He paused, looked at me flatly, and then beamed. "I didn't expect to hear those words. Oh, you'll be fine with these. You'll be just fine..."

And he went on and on, and made his (much younger) associate go get me boxes that hadn't been opened, and stuff. So pleased. It was adorbs. I'm glad I got to make him happy, even if it was just five minutes.

ita, I think sometimes people in the stores are so relieved to have someone come in who actually knows what they're talking about and is pleasant, that they just, well, have happy kittens.

Speaking of happy kittens...I just taught my manager llama drama. I don't even know anymore. But she's pretty good, as far as I can tell.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

People are a mess, I am jealous of Sue, and Allyson is not a loser. I'm pretty sure that's all I've got from today.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

When did I become the person at work who knows where everything is, and how do I stop it? (I don't know the location of everything, but it is assumed I do)
