At antique shows there would often be piles of quilt squares that had been sewn together but never made into a quilt. My mother - queen of the unfinished project - threatened to leave hers for my sister and I to deal with. (I don't think she ever actually pieced a square; as far as I can remember, the furthest she got was buying fabric - lots of fabric - and cutting out a few pieces.)

What I'm getting from the comments is that "a while" is really short, so it shouldn't really be used as a lubricant, just as an unsticker. And you should use a real lubricant as soon as possible afterwards. Sound fair?
