Good article on IO9 about why people get sick on planes.

Except that the main problem with the air in planes is extreme dryness. It is at around 1% humidity or something absurd like. It make not give you infections diseases but sure as hell can cause respitory misery. A major problem for people who work in the industry, and not great for passengers either.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I see lots more Dave Foleys than Bruce McCulloughs in the lower 48

Have you seen Foley recently, though? Just saying...

However, watching networks and movie executives pull talent from the home team at the comedy festival, they definitely go for looks over talent. However, a lot of the just good looking guys get bounced back north at the end of their development deals.

I should have qualified my statement by saying that the Canadian actors I have seen *on television* almost universally have good genes

I'm guessing you don't watch the Sy Fy channel much, or other shows filmed primarily in Canada.

I buy mac his Christmas gift today

What happens at Christmas?

it does leave a lubricating film

Doesn't it end up anti-lubricating over time, though? That's what the comments seemed to converge on.

Because books.

The girls from next door are dusting with Sara! And they actually cleaned her room reasonably well. I like this turn of events.

Why do I order more cross-stitch Christmas kits when I still have 10 more ornaments to make from the kits I already have?

Because (1) if you don't order them NOW, you might not be able to later and (2) you'll get to them ... and you can't resist.

brillig

I'm planning on having all my unfinished needlework projects piled on my pyre after I die. Something to do if the afterlife gets dull.

Doesn't it end up anti-lubricating over time, though?

If something really needs lubricating (Stop that! I'm talking about metallic moving parts here.) of the long term, I use a silicone spray, but WD-40 will unstick most things and prevent corrosion for a while, which is why it's a basic tool. The real problem is that list guy is clearly not an actual handy person.

Sumi, that's terrible.

Sixty percent of [the tray tables, across all of the planes] tested positive for MRSA.

At antique shows there would often be piles of quilt squares that had been sewn together but never made into a quilt. My mother - queen of the unfinished project - threatened to leave hers for my sister and I to deal with. (I don't think she ever actually pieced a square; as far as I can remember, the furthest she got was buying fabric - lots of fabric - and cutting out a few pieces.)

MRSA is everywhere. The number of people with community-acquired MRSA is growing rapidly.

Art Crawl!!!

We're going to have a skeleton crew for the rest of the day.. . but I get to leave at 1 pm.

Which is excellent for me because I haven't' packed and I'm catching a train tonight. (Just to Chicago and then to Evanston - going to my brother's house for Thanksgiving.)

It's going to be weird, isn't it? Although I think that the weird intermediate headspace I go into when I have to travel will mean that I get to my brother's house and I'll have compartmentalized. (It was weird running out and getting a birthday card for my niece.)
