I need some advice. I have a neighbor who will be moving out soon. She has 2 kittens (3 and 5 months I think).
They have no food or water over there (I can peek in the window) they are meowing and scratching at the door. I let them in myplace yesterday when the landlady was showing the apartment.
According to her the neighbor called b/c she lost her key and needed to get up with the Landlady for a replacement. That was Saturday afternoon and the landlady hasn't heard from her.
I know she didn't come home last night. So the kittens have been alone from Saturday afternoon until today.
When my landlady comes home I want to tell her the situation, ask if I can get into the apartment and get the kittens and feed them.
Would it be wrong if, when my neighbor shows up, I tell her I can't give the kittens back to her because of her neglect?
Amy, I love making baked ziti when I have to feed a lot of people.
If you're looking to use up leftovers, shepard's pie is the way to go.
If not, I usually want something as far from a turkey dinner as possible by Saturday, so I'd go with a giant chef's salad or maybe a big stir-fry.
askye, I would at least ask the landlady if you can get in to feed them. Poor things.
Thanks for the suggestions, people! I think maybe lasagna and meatball sandwiches for the kids, with a big green salad. Easy and yummy and very much not!turkey.
Landlady isn't home and wont' be for awhile. I got the neighbor's number and called to see if the landlady or I could get permission to go in, but it went straight to voicemail. I just hope she calls back.
Talked to the landlady, if neighbor doesn't call before she leaves work then LL is going to call the police and explain the situation and make sure it's okay that she access the apartment without the neighbor's permission.
Then I'm going to politely explain what happened, why we did it, and offer to take at least one, but offer to take both if she can't care for them and the landlady and I are going to split the care until home(s) can be found.
askye - yay for Thanksgiving kittens?
I can hear little kitten mewings in my head. I want kittens! Damned jealous Shadow.
We'll see. I think the neighbor is goign to be really defensive but I'm going to try and be polite and sweet about it.
Really I want to storm in, take the kittens, and tell her tough luck, she lost them when she neglected them.
I really think leaving them alone for as long as she has constitutes enough neglect to be reported.
Especially kittens, I think. They're babies, after all.
I have seventeen things to do today, all outside the house, and it's raining and cold and filthy out. Blech.
