Sparky, I'm taking over the downstairs at Polly Sue's, which has been there for years and years. But if you'd like to mention me, I'd really appreciate it! I officially open March 1, and I'll have women's and girls' clothes, along with vintage photos and art.

I was doing research for another post a while back, and found something a bit…unusual. It was an old Japanese scroll about farting.
No, you didn’t misread that last sentence. The whole scroll, which is called He-Gassen (“The Fart Battle”) is just about people farting. Farting at other people, farting at cats, farting off of horses, farting into bags; just farting everywhere.
eta: Oops. Kinda NSFW because of naked butts.
Reading this made my day.
because I like to get buffista dander up. here is my contribution for the day:
measles outbreak after superbowl ignites vaccine debate.
day off!
I slept in till 8 and made scrambled eggs with bacon and now I'm sitting on my porch in the sunlight for the first time all year--it's probably over 70 already.
The joys of a well-stocked larder: I made a pot of tea and then I had no milk, and the shops nearby don't open until 9 (I think). So I found an old package of dry milk and mixed some up. I won't drink it, but it's okay for tea.

Some lawmakers are actually siding with misguided parents on this front. USA Today reported last week that seven states are considering comprehensive opt-out laws.
ARGH. Hulk SMASH.
I think I have figured out that the group in "some lawmakers" want to KILL us.
So if I'm following the legislative logic here...what we really need is a vaccine that's administered vaginally. Because then it could be legally mandated.
Jessica FTW.
This might have been posted a long time ago. But since it's Friday, here's a video of Alcoholic Monkeys Stealing Cocktails from Caribbean Beach-Goers
In 2009, the BBC television show Weird Nature went to the West Indies island named St. Kitts to film vervet monkeys snatching cocktails from beach-goers and then proceeding to get drunk. According to the clip, the monkeys were brought from West Africa 300 years ago with the rum-making slaves and they acquired a taste for alcohol from eating the rum’s leftover fermented sugar cane. The footage was produced and directed by award-winning media company, John Downer Productions.
Drunken monkeys!
What's interesting is the percentage of monkeys who are teetotalers and alcoholics match match human percentages.
