What? I'm not allowed to hit people? Wesley: Not people capable of genocide. Angel: Those are exactly the types of people I should be allowed to hit!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My dad's been legally blind without his glasses since as far back as I can remember. I don't know how much this can have, but if it pulls him back from the brink, that's great.

Why isn't Simon Baker even trying with the accent in last night's episode?

Hey, anyone here do that Instagram thing?

Also, why am I still dead today? And will I be able to take a sick day today (I tried yesterday, but only managed half...)?

My mother refused to admit that her vision was any better after she had one eye done. She'd only say that she was noticing dirt everywhere that she hadn't seen before.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

My dad's cataract surgeries worked fantasticaly!

NILLY! Oh, goodness, he is a darling, darling boy! What a smile machine!

My stepson M is going as Wolverine for Purim. I'm so proud...

(I know Purim is a fun holiday, and I read the book of Esther a zillion times as a kid -- I thought it was a cool story -- but I have to admit other than "FUN JEWISH FESTIVAL BASED ON BOOK OF ESTHER" I'm a little sketchy on the details.)

But if M wants to dress up as a superhero for it, GeekAgnosticStepmom says "Hells yeah!"

Great pictures, Nilly!

Paging Holli: there is a current thread on the TP listserv and vintage clothing stores around. Send me the info on your new shop so I can post it!

an overblown libretto and a sumptuous score/ could never contain the contradictions I adore

Sparky, I'm taking over the downstairs at Polly Sue's, which has been there for years and years. But if you'd like to mention me, I'd really appreciate it! I officially open March 1, and I'll have women's and girls' clothes, along with vintage photos and art.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Japanese Fart Scrolls

I was doing research for another post a while back, and found something a bit…unusual. It was an old Japanese scroll about farting.

No, you didn’t misread that last sentence. The whole scroll, which is called He-Gassen (“The Fart Battle”) is just about people farting. Farting at other people, farting at cats, farting off of horses, farting into bags; just farting everywhere.

eta: Oops. Kinda NSFW because of naked butts.

day off!

I slept in till 8 and made scrambled eggs with bacon and now I'm sitting on my porch in the sunlight for the first time all year--it's probably over 70 already.

The joys of a well-stocked larder: I made a pot of tea and then I had no milk, and the shops nearby don't open until 9 (I think). So I found an old package of dry milk and mixed some up. I won't drink it, but it's okay for tea.

Some lawmakers are actually siding with misguided parents on this front. USA Today reported last week that seven states are considering comprehensive opt-out laws.
