Reavers ain't men. Or they forgot how to be. Now they're just nothing. They got out to the edge of the galaxy, to that place of nothing, and that's what they became.

an overblown libretto and a sumptuous score/ could never contain the contradictions I adore

Thanks. You should see my living room, though: it's just a heap of plastic bags full of clothes. Soooooo many clothes. I have over 250 things in inventory.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Congrats, Holli!

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Congratulations, Holli! That is fantastic!

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Happy Birthday, Laura! Yay, Holli!

Also Ginger? Shall we send your House rep flowers? Or maybe she'd like a chainsaw?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Great step, Holli. Who's a big little Eskimo? Who is?

My boss just called to congratulate me on handling the lessons learnt call yesterday, which was good, since I came out of it feeling like I'd done everything in the world wrong in the project. And it's true--I didn't spend enough time on lessons we learnt because we did things right--truth is, we pulled off an unexpectedly complex project on time, and with quality. We have a very happy business user, whose discomfiture now is because they didn't think things through beforehand, not because we didn't inform them and try and get them to think things through.

Then I had to make a "this is just between you and me, except I need you to escalate" call to a vendor, to exploit a rapport I'd built up with their consultant. What a difficult place to put the poor guy in, to tell him he's the only one at his company that's giving us proper attention, and that they are in jeopardy if everyone else doesn't meet his level of service. I hope I handled it as well as possible, telling him he didn't have to defend his company or co-workers to me, just to, you know, fix everything.

Oy.
