Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Happy Birthday, Laura! Yay, Holli!

Also Ginger? Shall we send your House rep flowers? Or maybe she'd like a chainsaw?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Great step, Holli. Who's a big little Eskimo? Who is?

My boss just called to congratulate me on handling the lessons learnt call yesterday, which was good, since I came out of it feeling like I'd done everything in the world wrong in the project. And it's true--I didn't spend enough time on lessons we learnt because we did things right--truth is, we pulled off an unexpectedly complex project on time, and with quality. We have a very happy business user, whose discomfiture now is because they didn't think things through beforehand, not because we didn't inform them and try and get them to think things through.

Then I had to make a "this is just between you and me, except I need you to escalate" call to a vendor, to exploit a rapport I'd built up with their consultant. What a difficult place to put the poor guy in, to tell him he's the only one at his company that's giving us proper attention, and that they are in jeopardy if everyone else doesn't meet his level of service. I hope I handled it as well as possible, telling him he didn't have to defend his company or co-workers to me, just to, you know, fix everything.

Oy.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Holli!! So exciting!!

Art Crawl!!!

It would amuse me if Rupert Graves played either Lestrade or his character from Life on Mars in Doctor Who.

Argus Filch/Walder Frey is also going to be in the next season of Doctor Who.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Go, Holli!

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yay birthday Laura! I am so excited about your ocean kayak! Which brand did you get? Yeah, fishing kayaks can be pretty hard to turn over, as they're made to be stable. Which means they're stable both directions. I have gotten derailed in my kayak enthusiasm of two years ago and still haven't got past the stage of kayak rack.

Ack! My massage therapist broke her arm! I'm trying to get into the other person in the practice, because I cannot work with a one-handed "relaxation" massage right now.

Also, my boss apologized if her stress slopped over on me this morning, which was nice, but my own stress is significant, and I HAVE been fucking up. Oy.

Relatedly, I did not sleep well last night, and realize that for me, tired feelings make me feel depressed and a mess in general. If I can get a good night's sleep tonight, I should be fine in the morning. Still spinning a million plates in a terribly understaffed department in a role I don't really want, but fine.
