If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I remember my old doctor was having a C-section and wanted to have her tubes tied at the same time, since they were already in there. Her OB couldn't do it because they were at a catholic hospital.

OMG it only got better for like, a MINUTE. And then it was eye-rolling MORE THAN EVER and there was NO HSQ because OMG IT IS SO OBVIOUS AND CLICHED!

Yes! There was one scene that was really moving and well done, and the rest was just stupid and obvious.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Kat, I don't know, but I have a friend at work who taught at a parochial school for a couple of years and I can ask her. (My guess is that they get paid a little less because they're also getting room and board, but I really don't know.)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I would also guess they can get paid whatever, but they'd give their extra money to the Church?

Our wings are not tired.

I'm sorry about your coworker leaving, ita !. Competent and personable people in the workplace are a treasure.

Can't wait to hit the intracoastal. I am not ocean bound - yet.

My memory back to when I was in school was that the priests were paid but not the nuns. No idea of the current deal.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Rupert Graves (Sherlock's Lestrade) will be appearing in the upcoming season of Doctor Who!

I honestly think a big part of why I have such trouble with Glee is that the first episode I ever watched was the Joss-directed one; part of the reason Joss is, well, Joss, is that in addition to all the good writing he's just a very competent director. The performances, the attention the camera paid to the actors in their silent moments, the way the camera moved and framed things, the way the musical numbers were shot... it was all really freaking satisfying and pleasurable.

And I keep wanting all the episodes to be as well crafted and well executed as that one, but they're so very much not. If I'd started with some other episode, maybe I'd have more realistic expectations.

Everyone at my level is clear that there's no one who can replace him in terms of programming ability, architectural vision, and people skills. Man, the pushback I got from my primary business team when I tried to engineer a team with a different developer--and I had to make all sorts of promises to new!developer based on my reputation because he just lacked the imagination to see the solution himself--I don't want to be back with that.

Ugh. I wish I could be there for his birthday lunch. But my insomnia doesn't fuck around. I can't drive right now. And it would look super sketchy if I came in late just in time for 90 minutes of lunch. Although I will consider that.

I will make his going away celebrations if I have to drag my half-dead semi-corpse over broken glass.

Because books.

I can still watch Glee with partial attention for the music, and once in a while for a funny or touching line (I did get a little weepy last night, and last week, at different moments), but I think overall Ryan Murphy is way better suited to something like Nip/Tuck or American Horror Story than he is to Glee. He can't do a message or a moral without tripping over his own anvils, and the cast is way too big to give most of the characters the kind of attention they deserve.

I will make his going away celebrations if I have to drag my half-dead semi-corpse over broken glass.

I hope it doesn't come to *that*. Sorry you're losing a great work buddy. Those are priceless.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Happy birthday, Laura! Yay kayak!
