Welsh rarebit bread:

My home maintenance book said it's supposed to be done yearly (the hwh flushing). The debris in the bottom is probably from rust in my pipes, according to the plumber.
So now I have 40 gallons of hot water draining into my front yard. I may regret this.
So MIT is offering this free online course on electronics and circuits, a pilot program, where you get a certificate if you successfully complete it. And it's making me just a tad pseudo-nostalgic for the road not taken. MIT invited me to apply, but I didn't, and of course very well might not have gotten in. But if I had, I think my life would look very different right now. I'm super happy with my life, honestly, but I sometimes miss using that part of my brain.
Vortex, I'm so glad you can go.
send love through the interwebs.
have also not drained my hwh. do not remember doing that ever growing up.
gives Jesse the stinkeye.
Vortex, I'm glad you can go. You're an emissary of a lot of love today.
Liese, thanks for sharing that MIT link! My BFF also sometimes regrets that road not taken, and I'm hoping she'll see the door isn't closed for good.
(Door, road, mixing metaphors is my speciality.)
MIT has a lot of classes on-line. You don't get credits for them, but the geek in me is all "Who the fuck CARES!! WOO!"
I am going to go and exercise with a friend in a few. Wish me geting rid of my flat white-girl ass and getting killer guns!
Definitely send the love Vortex! Glad a couple of us can be there in person for her.
now I'm emptying out my hot water heater to flush out the debris at the bottom. It's supposed to be done every year
I, too, had no idea this was supposed to be done.
The home-maintenance question that's been bugging me is that you're supposed to periodically empty the dryer...tube? thing that vents air outside, because it gets lint in it and can start a fire. But my washer/dryer are stacked and in a closet--I can't get to it from there, and it vents out the third floor, so I can't reach it from outside. What do I do?
