I know the bees are really important to you, -t. I'm sorry. I hope there's a good solution for you.
That's a shame, -t. Did I ever tell you about the woman I know who puts her bees up in county open space? She just drives up the fire roads until she finds a nice quiet spot...
Not that I would ever recommend you do such a thing. Ahem.
Thanks, y'all. I'm sure my scofflaw bees will find a more law-abiding home. I am tempted to just try to force them to swarm and see what happens. But I won't.
Eta: You did, Consuela! I was actually just remembering that.
Thanks, lisah!
Now I feel like I accomplished something today working at home!
-t, how about a community garden?
edited to add: In this case, when you tell someone they've gone to live on a farm, they really have!
aww -t.
I love bees. I wish you would come live near me.
When I was a kid, my father kept bees. For several years, they were on land way out in the country. I don't know what arrangement he had with the owner -- I was about 5 or 6 at the time. But I remember being able to run around the area (not too close to the hives!) while my father harvested the honeycomb.
I'm still bemused by the fact that you can just order bees and...they come in the mail. A box of bees! It's like a Monty Python sketch.
