One of my pictures made it up on Gothamist: [link]
Ha! I just told brenda yesterday she should buy a giant print of that photo and put it up in her living room.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Tom, that's amazing.
Do you do much (if any) post-processing of your photos (other than cropping)? And what sort of a camera do you use for most of them?
Skippy skimming to say:
greening Mardi Gras.
I pitched at Greening the Gras, coordinated an in-kind donation to ARC for their Catch and Release trailer, attended the ball, and was the volunteer coordinator for Verdi Gras. Basically, all up in that shit. And we were actually amazed by how supportive everyone was during our "1 day, 1 parade, 6 blocks" pilot effort, so I say "piffle" to those who say people won't do it.
Scola, took a minute for the photo to load, but I love it! Good for you.
I use Color Efex Pro to give the pictures a simulated film look. I shoot with an Olympus Pen E-P3.
OMG, what the fuck is wrong with people that being asked to discuss something that is their job is sparking all kinds of resistance and firing off emails to people's bosses and shit? I am about ready to cut a bitch today.
That's a great picture, Tom. Congrats, and yay!
I like Zed for Zehbra. Or Zedediah.
I'm also grinning at Ginger's explanation. I parsed ita's, and maybe it was because I did so that comprehension was immediate on reading Ginger's. Then too, it's a proven fact (which I can't cite, sorry) that learning is both quicker and more effective taught with humor. So such an approach might actually be the more expedient way to go.
And yeah, starship command would be good!

It's totally worth it. I'm pretty awful at that sort of thing, and I really should learn how. Would you recommend this app over learning to do it in Gimp or Photoshop? Any others out there that are good, maybe cheaper?
I love that camera too. My god, the in-camera filters! Do you ever use those? I think my point and shoot, has, like three, and my digital SLR is mostly a film SLR made digital, as opposed to truly taking advantage of the technology.
What sort of lenses do you use?
Man, I'm so inspired by you, but still lazy...
Why yes, indeed, I am completely uninterested and uninvested in helping to plan a baby shower for a friend who has a) already had a shower and b) is only reluctantly going along with a work one and F or G or something you know I hate attending work parties, so why am I here? And finally, if you want to make a cute card, make a cute card, we don't need to goddamned debate it!
I really just said "I don't have much time, and I'm crap at organizing this sort of thing."
Would you recommend this app over learning to do it in Gimp or Photoshop?
Most definitely. I can't photoshop for shit.
Any others out there that are good, maybe cheaper?
DxO Film Pack might even be better than Color Efex, but stupidly, it doesn't come as a 64-bit plugin on the Mac. Silly of them to lose a sale just because they don't know how to set compiler flags.
My god, the in-camera filters! Do you ever use those?
Color Efex (and Silver Efex) can do all of them, and I have more control over them in post than in-camera.
Turns out I wanted Chinese food for lunch.
I am eating alone in the conference room and realize this balance of being able to eat alone, but know I could go visit with someone in their office is what I have been missing.
