We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Consuela, do you have any long train trips coming up where you could commiserate with an uninvolved party about your respective work frustrations

I see what you did there.

The problem is that I have to be perfect, whereas she can apparently say anything and do anything and nobody cares. She is not held accountable.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I hate work nemesis stuff. I had a work nemesis once, that I freaking hired. And I was so oblivious that I had to have a friend (former Pacer) tell me that she wasn't my friend and I should watch out for her. They really can make things miserable for you.

The SO & Seabiscuit just went out snow hiking. The Biscuit thinks this is the best thing that's ever happened to him and is romping around like a puppy.

I have done jack all all day and I'm good with that. It has not quit snowing since 11:00 when I declared it wasn't ever going to snow. I've been out to feed the birds and clear the birdbath twice already, and have swept off the steps of the entry and the deck, and it was probably a good 3 inches already on the deck steps alone, and is supposed to keep snowing until midnight.

Which means tomorrow may be a snow day, too, even though that school is much closer. If it is, I swear I will be some productive, but it has been super great just having the day to while away with the SO. We sat in the sunroom and watched the birds and the snow. He sat in the rocker and puttered on the internet and I curled up on the seat he built and read books. A rabbit came and ate from the birdfeeder. Now I am drinking cocoa sitting by the fire. And he is out there marching around, but he's kooky like that.

Dang, JZ, that's awesome!

Smonster, are they the homeopathic drops or something else? The homeo ones don't work (though I can't knock the placebo effect!) but the creams and gels are pretty established as helpful.

And in good news, I finally got a hold of my boss (who was apparently sick and napping for a bit with plans to work more tonight--the benefit of working from home!) and she was definitely not surprised, and is also looking (because the company is annoying lately, even if she and my other coworkers are awesome) Yay!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Twice in two days someone has come up and greeted me and I have had no idea who they were.

Some guy greeted me effusively yesterday, and I stared at him blankly and kept walking because I was *really* sure he didn't mean me. Sure enough, he apologised and said he'd mistaken me for Felicia. Fuck him. I hate being mistaken for anyone.

Well, except that one chick (Rachel?) in university. She was rather radically cool, although we eyed each other with extreme suspicion. I wonder if she thought I was the one pretending to be her--I wasn't--that was my sister. She was somehow both our dopplegangers, although I maintain me and Sav don't look alike.

I hope the new job treats you well, meara.

AT&T has done an entire redesign of the least user-friendly corporate website. Now it's unfriendly with different graphics, and it doesn't remember my pre-redesign information.

How do I hate thee, AT&T? Let me count the ways.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

meara, did I miss it? How did the negotiation go?

Huh. I didn't know that. They are little homeopathic pills that dissolve under the tongue. That's a powerful placebo effect, to make my epic bruises disappear faster. What do the gels do, exactly? Just treat muscle soreness?

Okay, this vendor is dicking with us, but OMG, are we ever dicking with this poor consultant. He's getting it from all angles.

He's getting three conflicting directions on how to present (in all fairness, I'm right), and people refuse to read/remember his documentation beforehand, so he's getting dinged for things he never did (or things he was told to do).

However, this whole thing should have been done with a month ago, because his visit was in December.

Everyone sucks.

Yet, I'm still right.

Okay, my sister sent me a NSFW link: [link] I haven't looked at it, because at work, but she won't synopsise. Can someone with less restrictions give me a heads up, to stave off my anticipation?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

So, update on the plagiarism issue.

For our observers at home, you may recall that I had a graduate student who did a whole lot of cut and paste plagiarism in a final paper. I failed her in the class and thus she did not get a passing grade in the course. Her graduation has been postponed until she can take another class.

Well, I understand from a colleague that her advisor is encouraging her to write me an apology note to try to repair the relationship.

What do you all think about this?

I kinda don't want a letter unless it is sincere. The student (as I have heard) still claims not to have known this was plagiarism. So if she is standing by that position, I really don't want a letter.
