I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'm so sorry, Maria.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Sure it is.

If you hate America!

I don't hate America, I just hate paying with ATM cards. And in my head, most retailers don't accept credit cards for amounts under $10 even though I KNOW that's not true anymore. I just have a hard time unremembering it.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Cheese! I want Cheesentine! </greedy, what filet mignon isn't enough?>

When I woke up from sleeping in, yay, it was totally clear and I was all, "buh?" about calling it a snow day. And now? Total snow chaos! It's snowing up, yo.

I may need to record a video.

Oh, yeah, and I totally terrorist paid for my groceries yesterday. It's an awesome hardcore way of enforcing budget. I would normally just fudge, but since I have the cash monies in my hand, I have to put stuff back if I go over.

I suspect I'll be getting into Downton Abbey soonish. My recent Rupert Graves obsession has me watching the Foresyte Saga, and I feel my historical drama fan waking up.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Do we need any prosecco, or are we good to go on that?

Grab some on the way home. Are you leaving soon?

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

By 1 at the latest, hopefully earlier. Want to finish this chunk of data, but making excellent progress.

I think technically their agreements with the credit card companies don't allow this. And I do wonder, now that we give credit cards for $1 purchases at the parking meter, how the city is dealing with that.

BUT, I don't think I spend more money on credit than I would with cash usually (barring the times I wouldn't have cash in my pocket!)--except for the occasional times when I want something that's $3, don't have cash, and feel ridiculous paying credit for something that small and decide to buy something else!

Our wings are not tired.

I try and use cash at small businesses and restaurants. I have seen it recommended that you not use a card any place where they take the card out of your sight. Too much CC fraud out there. Many times I have been given a 'cash' price, usually a minimum of no tax, sometimes more.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I have seen it recommended that you not use a card any place where they take the card out of your sight.

Isn't that 95% of sitdown restaurants? My sister won't let her card out of her sight in Jamaica, but they bring readers to the table. It's so normal to do it here, I'm not sure what the recourse is--follow your server back to the register?

Also, they have your credit card number anyway, don't they?

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I've seen that advice, too, and had the same reaction w/r/t restaurants. I can't think of any sitdown restaurant I've been to where they brought a card reader to the table.
