And if you that close, shouldn't you just club the guy with the pistol?"
We walked by the gun store near Emmett's mom's house on the way to the ballfield today and he mentioned that he'd been inside and they had a replica of Wyatt Earp's "Peacemaker." Apparently it's not just huge, but heavy - like 15 lbs. Which suddenly makes so much more sense that Wyatt Earp did most of his lawmaking by pistol-whipping guys into unconsciousness.
Oh god, a huge Dr. Who discussion just busted out on my SF Giants baseball site.
Sample comment:
I think every companion during RTD’s run saw wild fluctuations in episode quality. The biggest thing that Moffat did was really just bring the standard up across the board plot- and production-wise. I feel that RTD was actually easily the superior show runner for character development (non-Rory edition).
But good characters in episodes like Daleks in Manhattan is less worth my time than just watching consistently good episodes.
Followed by...
Soon after Daleks Take Manhattan, there’s a run of four really good to great episodes- the two-parter with the Family of Blood (the episodes that made me heart Martha), Blink, and 42 (I really enjoyed that one) so you’re right about that. But then comes the Master and the Doctor as a parrot and it’s back to badness.
I do give RTD credit for making the show wildly entertaining and that even the worst episodes are still kind of fun to watch. Moffat does seem to be more plot, plot, plot but the Pond’s/Dr relationship has really become something really special and sweet as evidenced by the final few minutes of the Christmas episode. I’d totally love to hang out with all three even if I’d spend the whole time seriously lusting after Mrs. Pond
So, actually pretty well informed but...Quit Crossing the Streams!
Anyone else remember a short-lived series called "The Peacemakers" that was basically CSI: Gunsmoke ? It was good.
If anyone can find my damn nail clippers, I will give you a prize.*
*Prize to be determined at a later date. Prize has no monetary value. Prize has no redeeming social value. Prize may get you thrown in jail depending on what municipality you live in. Offer void in Kentucky. May cause uncomfortable itching. Do not feed prize after midnight.
Bless vets who respond to email when they shouldn't be working. I feel a little bad, but they put their addys on the site, so... They need a general triage email for non-emergencies (and I told them so!)
Pumpkin's worms have returned (I'll spare you the details, but they aren't bad. Just saw the one, otherwise unaware.) I emailed the vet in full squick, asking if I needed an appointment or what. Nope, she just put in a 'script I can pick up Monday and assured me that as long as we don't have a flea problem (we don't) the other cats are wormless (oh, and I won't get them either, thankyouverymuch!) but to check in again in a couple weeks, by taking a ton of fresh poop in.
I love having the email option. I'm so phone avoidant, and hard to reach since I don't carry the cell, but email? That I can do.
I have nail clippers you can use, Steph. But they are here in CA.
Have people commented on the 'shipping article in EW yet?
Mine are on the coffee table (and in the manicure basket in the drawer upstairs, but I need one in reach for TheCatsClawsAreTooLong!) For now. You have cats, Steph. Check under the tables and wherever you might have lain them.
I done already got into arguments about the shipping article. Ah, well. I'm always arguing about something somewhere, evidently.
I'm watching the strange Graham Norton panel show, and Alan Cumming--love him! He wants the large hands for spankings, and will readily pay $358 to make sure he can keep seeing rainbows. And his daily activity for narration was going to the therapist. He's just so...present.

I interrogated the dog. For real. He looks shifty.
I think they might have fallen under the nightstand, which is heavy and dark underneath and wedged in a corner so it's hard to reach a hand under there anyway. I'm going to give it one swipe and then just buy new ones.
At which point the original ones will reappear like magic. BECAUSE THE DOG HAS THEM.
