I just cried at work. I'm not even ashamed about it. We have a huge, high profile joint deployment this weekend, and the vendor (edit: the developer said to me, offhand...) said "Oh, we're going to migrate data centres in the middle of your deployment, mmkay?"

I told my manager, and laughed so hard telling the PM (he thought I was lying for a good 5-10 minutes, in order to rile him up) that I couldn't stop from crying.

I kept a straight face in front of the Director of Marketing (who owns the project), but she could see I had been agitated and the remnants of the tears, and gave me a hug.

Which, you know. But the sentiment was solid.

Moving data centres! In the *middle* of a deployment! No definite time on Saturday, either before the file import or after, depending on how things shake out Friday.

Director of Marketing called the vendor up, told them in no uncertain terms that it would not stand, and they're staying put for at least a few weeks.

But I still have that post-lacrimose feeling.

I just hit myself in the head with the TV remote.

I think it's time to leave the house for a bit.

My left forearm is bugging the heck out of me. I must have twinged something when I was working with my fans today.

Nah, just too much time on the couch, I think.

Well, I had a good day. I just decided to cut out the most difficult part of a big project, and with it gone we'll have a much easier time meeting our deadlines and keeping under budget.

Yay for me.

You can cut out something hard and no one complains. Cool. I should see if I could apply that to my current work frustration.

Harking back to last night, I'm still in Mama Bear mode, but not quite as fierce. Why are some boys so stupid (not CJ in this case)?

I ended up telling the story of the stupid vendor to a co-worker who was working from home, and laughed myself into tears again. I'm still agog.

Well, we agreed to a big demolition project, but part of it is just physically tricky--hard to access, with a lot of environmental problems associated with it. And I realized that if we don't do that piece, we still accomplish the needs of the project, but we lose the trickiest planning problems and save money as well.

Damnit. I think I might have to go to the doctor tomorrow.

Ugh, Dana! If you're still sick, at least call a nurse line?
