Holy crap! We got a federal refund! Usually it's eaten up by student loan payments, but for some reason this time the Feds just nodded and handed over the whole amount. More than what CA withheld, enough more that, knock wood, we're gonna have a working car again. I am totally shifting my Brave Little Toaster dance into a Snoopy dance.

Yay federal refund.
ION, I am at work, waiting for my iPod to finish syncing so I can go home. Something's wrong with this picture....
Yay federal refund!
Hey, Lee, you around? I need help from someone with legal database access.
That's great, JZ!
It is. We were feeling particularly snakebit after losing the State refund to random 26 year old tickets because that was the third time in the last couple years where an expected windfall didn't come through.
JZ tried to cash in some stock certificates, but the company got sold and resold and resold again and the last company wouldn't honor them.
And we got a notice from Honda that our expensive previous fix was part of a recall and we could get our money back. Then they changed their mind.
And then the State taxes fiasco.
The especially weird part is that we didn't expect to get the Federal return since they've been garnishing my returns for years to pay off my school loans. So I went to check our balance in the ATM and there was a lot more money in there than we had expected.
This also means that I've paid off those old tickets and my college loan.
The important thing though is that Emmett won't have to get up at 5:30am now. He'll get to sleep blissfully all the way to 6:30am.
> have a British friend (she grew up in Yorkshire) who has stated publicly she will dance on Maggie Thatcher's grave.
... I'm afraid to ask her what she thinks of Iron Lady.
I think your friend's sentiments are completely compatible with liking "Iron Lady". "She's evil. evil!" is a valid reading of the film, though not the only possible one.
I wish the Feds would send Hubby's Social Security statement already, my W2's ready to go.
One of my co-workers has a picture of one of these as his wallpaper. Which seems reasonable, but it's
his
(only one in the US right now, apparently, so I've totally IDed him). I'm trying to convince him it's weird to have a picture of what's in the parking lot downstairs as your wallpaper, and I've just about managed to rally everyone against him. I had the collateral effect of insinuating to the newly married co-worker that it was icky (in a boys have cooties way) to have her wedding picture up, but I think she agrees with me, kinda. She's the unmarriedest newlywed ever.
