"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Now that's progress - people can now corner you and force you to look at badly focused pictures of their baby before it's even born.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ugh, poor you, Dana! I vote yes to caffeine -- isn't flat Coke a classic?

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

so, is it just me or this a little Georgia O'Keefe?

It looks more like a uterus and fallopian tubes than a vulva, but still, suggestive of female reproductive organs.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I'm disproportionately ragey that a co-worker who sits 10 feet from me came in today with a horrible cold and is coughing, hacking, sneezing, and sniffling every 45-60 seconds. (I feel like perhaps rage is an OTT reaction and that annoyance would be more in line with the situation. But, ISTG, all I want to do is whip my box of kleenex at the back of her head and scream "Go home! Go home and take your fucking plague with you!")

In the "Good" column for the day, I just had turkey and avocado for lunch, which is so damn good I'm regretting only bringing half an avocado to work. And I'm editing with a fountain pen, which makes me feel like a badass. In a retro sort of way.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Oh Dana, I second Jesse's suggestion of flat Coca Cola. And I'm not usually a soda drinker, but it's good for the queasy.

so, is it just me or this a little Georgia O'Keefe?

I'm with Sophia. I was going to say a bit more Judy Chicago than O'Keefe because it looks like a uterus to me.

Love the idea of a writing support group. I'd love to start writing again. It's been ages.

As for the sonogram, they are a bit uncanny, especially since head-on they look so much like skulls, but then both my kids ended up looking like their profile scans.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

And, because, I'm old, which means they're old, but FUCK, but my father is scheduled for cataract surgery, which means my sister is going to be nursemaiding both parents, and I don't know if I can help all. Or afford to, since I just dropped dosh on the car.

Ugh, ita. About how long will he need to recover from the surgery?

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

As for the sonogram, they are a bit uncanny, especially since head-on they look so much like skulls, but then both my kids ended up looking like their profile scans.

Our hospital does, in addition to the regular sonogram, a 3D image of your child's face. (I don't know how common this is, but I know a few other people who have gotten them.) It's done by taking three images and using them to create a composite. I guess some of them turn out lovely, but ours turned out, well, deeply weird. Like, Uncanny Valley kinds of creepy. (Though M says at least now we know the Sprog looks like Milton Berle.) I don't like to look at it -- it just creeps me out.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I never watch reality TV except when I'm home sick. So far today, Tabatha's Salon Takeover, Supernanny, Big Cat Diary, and Animal Cops.
