That's the thrill of living in the Hellmouth! There's a veritable cornucopia of fiends and devils and ghouls to engage ... Pardon me for finding the glass half-full.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

And now I want Jilli to come down so I can have a croquet party.

I've been trying to talk JZ into painting croquet balls like little hedgehogs. Flamingo shaped mallets are a lot more complicated.

I'm not a maker, so I don't know how simple or complicated this is:

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I want that croquet set!

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Oh, that sounds amazing, Vortex.

The first year I did these we had, like, a dozen teenage boys over. So whenever it ends up being just the SO & I, I always forget this, and make the dough for eight calzones (already too many) but the filling for more like twenty four. So I have leftover filling, which we will eat over rice tomorrow. And for the forseeable future.

House is gorgeous! And your kitchen is a stunner! Also, I would think you could use the actual lawn flamingos perfectly well as croquet mallets.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I finally finished reading Son of a Witch. Should I jump right into A Lion Among Men, or switch it up? Other options include Hunger Games, Syrup, Fool, and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Have you read Hunger Games yet? Do you want to have read it before the movies? Are you interested in the movie? Is Dragon Tattoo still in theatres--similar consideration there, if you care.

Just messaged a guy on OK Cupid. Not sure why. Hope that doesn't bite me in the ass.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

My lawn flamingos would be hard to hold and too short, adding some of the challenges Alice faced, but attaching lawn flamingos to croquet mallets would easy.

Because books.

Hunger Games, aurelia. So good, and really fast, and Dragon Tattoo is a great story but a crappy book.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

aurelia,

I would agree with Amy. If you are looking for something that you can speed through, I read the HG trilogy all in about 3-4 days.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I haven't read any of that list, and yeah, I probably do want to read before seeing the movies. I only have the first book, but I guess I'll go with Hunger Games.
