"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Anybody going to watch Smash? Got a rave review in the Chron.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

The pilot was kind of baffling, but DH has seen the first few eps and he really liked it.

(Not that the pilot wasn't good, I just had no idea how they would turn it into an ongoing series.)

Art Crawl!!!

Is that on tonight?

At first I thought that they were advertising for another reality tv singing contest.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm not sure when exactly it comes on, because all of the ads say "THE MONDAY AFTER THE SUPERBOWL!!" As a person who would watch Smash, how could I possibly know when the Superbowl is??

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The Superbowl hasn't happened yet? What are they waiting for?

What, you mean there isn't a huge overlap of televised sports fans and musical-theater fans?

I kid, actually: my sister lives in that overlap. She's a huge baseball fan, and yet every summer drags me to a couple community theater musical productions in the park up the hill.

Speaking of fans, I was very amused on the way into work this morning. I was listening to a podcast, "Stuff Mom Never Told You", which is generally about women's issues, or gender issues, but pretty wide-ranging. This one was about the rise of the female spy in popular culture, and it was so cute, because one of the podcasters is a HUGE La Femme Nikita fan. And not the new Nikita, but the old tv show, with Peta Wilson. She kept swinging from rational, critical-thinking podcaster to squeeing fangirl: it was adorable.

Also, it made me think of Dana.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I still have no idea who's playing in the Super Bowl. And yet I am planning what to cook for the party.
