Practicing yet again my skipping-while-ignoring-ongoing-conversations skills, because, according to Topic!Cindy "If the Apocalypse Comes, Beep Me" Feb 1, 2006 1:02:15 pm PST , today is Olivia's birthday.

Happy birthday, you big girl! With lots of wishes for your mom, your older brother, and all your family as well!

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

My sister swears there was a girl in one of her daughter's classes named - well, it was pronounced "Shi-theed" but it was spelled Shithead.

They now call her ex-husband Shi-theed.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

while their other daughter is named Vash, which is honey in Hebrew.

That would be Dvash, actually, not Vash.

Not at all - it makes all those mistranslated Chinese tattoos seem far less embarrassing.

Oh! Do you know bad Hebrew Tattoos? [link]

Edit: Oh, posting something like that after sad news. Sorry. I left the page open for too long.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

It's always best to make sure you know what someone's writing when it's a language - and characters - you don't know. Someone I knew in college told of his mother redecorating their living room. Her prize ornaments were a pair of lamps with silk shades and Chinese characters on them. At least they were her favorites until someone who read Chinese came to visit. The lovely (and expensive) shades read "arrogant rich".
