Letter from a former slave to his former master who had asked him to come back and work for him post-Civil War.
Timelies all!
Woke up with a sore shoulder and feeling tired. Don't know why in either case. It's Monday, I guess that's reason enough.
It is, Kat!
I had chickenpox, but nothing else, and god forbid I try to get records from my pediatrician--I have no idea who they were, I rarely went to the doctor!
Poking head (as I dislike doing, while ignoring ongoing conversations, alas) because, according to the Buffista Calendar, today is Anne W's birthday.
Happy birthday, Anne! With lots of wishes for a great day and a wonderful year!
First World Cat Problems. At last, there's someone out there who understands the horrible tragedy that Mycroft lives every day.
I had terrible chickenpox. My father is a doctor and my mother is a nurse and they nearly took me to the hospital. Everything else major they had vaccines for when I was a kid.
My grandmother nearly died of chickenpox when she had it as an adult. (That was, I think, before penicillin even, never mind vaccines.)
Yeah, chickenpox was awful. I had them down my throat, as well as everywhere else. I remember being home what felt like forever, and standing on the toilet so my mom could paint me with calamine. Not fun.
Jake had it right before the vaccine was widely accepted (or something? it seems so long ago), and got it at four. His case was pretty mild, thank goodness. But Ben and Sara were vaccinated.
I had chicken pox in my early 20s it was horrible, I didn't have a ton of pox but the actual itching was just so bad. Mom finally called the doctor and they gave me a prescription for something.. i have no idea what it was, but it knocked me out and I pretty much slept through the rest of it. I can't imagine if I hadn't had the relief of sleeping.
That letter is made of pure fucking win, sumi.
I was born in '72, so the only thing I had was the chicken pox. And it wasn't a bad case and saved me from flunking geometry at the end of my sophomore year of high school, so I am rather grateful. YPathogenMV.
