The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Both Dita and I are in the house! I am on the sofa drinking champagne from a coffee cup and Dira is hiding. I'm not sure she is going to forgive me for today for a while, but at least she has decided which is her room.

Also, I found the leak, and it's in the garage and the roofer was already scheduled for Tuesday. I am calling that a win!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

YAY in the house!

Such a cute noodle, msbelle.

Lee, so very exciting!!! I bet that champagne, even out of a coffee cup, is the sweetest thang EVAR.

ENJOY!

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

My dinner was tuna noodle casserole (the kind with condensed cream of mushroom soup). In my defense DH is at Sundance right now so the kids outnumber me.

Looking at the picture of the formerly-gender-free 5 year old in that article, all I can think is that my next-door neighbors' son (who has been out as a boy his entire life) spends about half his time dressed as a Disney princess. So, congratulations gender-free parenting! Your kid is exhibiting exactly the same amount of gender ambiguity as EVERY OTHER FIVE YEAR OLD ON THE FUCKING PLANET!

(My kids' collection of dress-up clothes is fairly pathetic. Every year right after Halloween I think to myself "I should buy a bunch of half-price costumes and save them for dress-up clothes. And every year I never get around to it.)

On a macro level she hopes her son sets an example for other parents and makes them reconsider buying their own sons trucks or forcing their daughters into tights.

ALL the babies I know wear tights - they're the best way to cover that gap between pants and socks in the winter! (Baby pants ride up, baby socks fall down. It's a thing.)

I'm guessing on a macro level the effect she's having on other parents is giving them something to gossip about. So she is providing a valuable service to the local community.
