Doesn't matter that we took him off that boat, Shepherd, it's the place he's going to live from now on.

Sleep well!

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Hugs for you, Lee.

msbelle makes me laugh. Thank you.

Steph, I totally need to look for that, because that sounds like the best use of speculoos I've heard of yet!

Good to know. The primary card I use is a generic Citibank. I used it when in Prague, but need to check if there are fees now.

I think the issue you may be thinking of is what some Americans have found in train stations, that the automated ticket machines will only accept the chip-and-pin type credit cards. Many restaurants/shops PREFER those, but are ABLE to do the old-school kind that we Americans have. There are a couple of banks starting to offer them for people here, and you can also get a prepaid debit card that has the chip and pin, but you should be OK, and able to get cash from the ATM--the issue will be more foreign transaction fees (most credit cards charge an additional 3%, but a few like the Cap One card don't)

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Glass is clean!

Aww, Lee, how hard to have to deal with Perkins' stuff and your loss in the middle of this move. But good on you for progress.

Next up is dusting, but I have hit a hitch in my gitalong, which is that the SO has already gone to bed. So I feel weird mopping around him. I think I'll work up until that point and stop. No, actually, I can do everything but mop. I don't need to sweep in the master bedroom right now.

We haven't heard from our houseguest so I doubt he's coming in tonight, which means I should have a little time tomorrow before he gets here. He's the world's easiest houseguest anyway. I technically don't have to do any cleaning for him since he lives most of the time in a teepee in Wyoming. (Not a native guy, just a bizarre photography buff who works the oil fields for weeks straight and then takes weeks off to go shoot pictures.)

Anyway. He's not a very exacting person, so I don't really need to be doing this. But I want to for me.

meara and I need to travel the world together. Between status on different airlines, hotel points, and knowing which cards to use that won't kill you in fees, we could travel like queens on a peasant's budget.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Which would inevitably lead to a reduction of services for high-functioning kids.

Can't say I didn't see it coming.

The early interventions might not suffer too much. Owen wasn't given an autism diagnosis for a couple of years. They still place a lot of younger kids in "communication delay" category before they're diagnosed with autism. But long-term care and assistance will be lost for sure.

Hil, they did quote the head of Autism Speaks--which, of course, many neurodiversity advocates and adult Aspies dislike.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Our last UK trip our credit cards were rejected twice (in two and a half weeks of using the cards a lot) at pubs for not being pin & chip. Both times we used cash. There was never a problem with getting cash from an ATM with our cards, so I would say just make sure you have some back up cash on you in case you need it and you'll be all set.
