It can disorient and disable the ant by covering its eyes and antennae; even if it doesn't, the scent of the resin masks the ant's own smell. When it tries to return to its nest (where it might report the larva's location), its colleagues attack and kill it as an intruder.

I told my mother that a cute guy I met ten years ago asked about me, and she went bananas. She's totally appalled that I let a cute guy slip through my fingers ten years ago. And she's also convinced that she's failed as a mother with two 40-year old single daughters. She bemoans not setting us a better example, but insists that she should have taught us to make men happy by cooking.
