Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Is there a good way to send a followup email about a job? I applied before Christmas, they said they got the resume, and applicants should expect to hear back within three weeks. With the holidays in there, I wasn't too worried, but now I'm wondering if I should nudge?

Amy, assuming it's been three weeks, I'd give it one more, personally. Due to the holidays. People here are STILL slow and additionally have forgotten all of the things they promised to do in the new year...

The St. Bernard is afraid of stairs?

He's aging and losing some nerve control of his legs, so he has a hard time with stairs. He stands at the top of the steps and whines and moans, puts one foot out and pulls it back, puts another foot forward, hesitates, and so forth. Swear to jebuslug, it takes him like 10 minutes to work up the courage to go down the stairs.

Which is why I mostly keep him confined downstairs now: he can get out to the backyard easier and that's where my bedroom is.

JenP: my sister & BIL come back Sunday night. So only 4 more days.

DAVID, KATHY CONTACTED AURELIA!!! ALL IS CLEAR ON THE KATHY FRONT!

ION, I used up all my motivation yesterday to be professional and upbeat and blah blah blah.

I have done a couple of useful things today (just started on the freelance work by emailing someone for info, cooked up some rice and two kinds of chicken, bought a few groceries, put dishes in the washer), but for pete's sake, it is already 2!!!!

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

That sounds like a lot to me.

Of course, you kind of have to consider the source on that one.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I swear to god, people. GO LIVE IS SUNDAY. Now would be a great time to stop changing requirements. I have a deployment every Sunday left this week. And only one of them looks to be close to finalised more than a week in advance.

So not my fault. People change requirements and don't tell the business analyst? No, we're grownups, and I'm not going to call you periodically to see if you've decided to creep the scope. You have my extension.

Oh, and, grr.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

How come msbelle's flaking looks like me when I'm on fire?

Perkins, in my head work is right between old house and new house, is that correct?

fyi, that is not a lot to do in a day. I have to email someone else. I also have to standardize all the citations for an article, write an article summary, and a list of key words.

That's not making me look any better, you know? Although I am admittedly a lazy bitch, so there's that.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

It's my first day in two weeks without cold meds. Yay! I celebrated by eating half the chocolates Shir sent me from Israel. So. Frickin'. Good.

I'm also celebrating by getting some thinky stuff done for work, now that I can actually think. And, since it's my work-from-home day, I put the tree into storage, paid my bills, and arranged for voice lessons and some cat vet visits. (The voice lessons are because I'm doing voice overs on some corporate eLearning videos, and I'd like to sound better. The vet stuff is a blood draw and a tooth cleaning visit.) I have energy again! Some of it may be from the espresso-praline cream in the chocolates, but that's ok!
