Sometimes I miss having powers... Oh. Oh! I know what this is! This is peer pressure! Any second now you're gonna make me smoke tobacco and--and have drugs!

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

no tv, music, toys or food until you write a sentence.

Minus the food, that was this afternoon. This entire afternoon. And not even write a sentence, just copy a sentence someone else had written. This was a seriously epic dawdle. I even bribed her with a promise of watching Tom and Jerry if she'd just finish! (I hate T&J like burning fire; using them as bribe fodder is a sign of the depths of my desperation.)

Oh, man, sarameg. You've had some kind of head gunkus nonstop for, what, the entire last year? It really needs to go pester someone else (I say, safely half a continent away).

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Our homework rule is no tv, no games, no toys, nothing until the homework is done and it starts the instant you get home from school. That ways it's done and out of the way. Em's is split up over a couple of days, but we get each day's done right after school. It's helped tremendously with the dawdling and fights on Sunday.

Nah, it's only been since October. That one held on for a while, but I was cured after TG, including the ear infection. Then got this thing right after Xmas. It's pretty much done, except my ear appears to be hanging on. Swimming doesn't help, but fuckit if I give that up.

What the cornstarch does is it binds to the oils and dirt inside the mat and lets you work the hairs loose of it all. You can just dump some on a mat and work it in, and it will break things up. You probably don't want to do this while wearing good clothes or near furniture that you want to remain clean and un-white-spotted.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Like dry shampoo, or the timeless classic of using cornstarch as a cheap dry shampoo.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

How do you get the cornstarch out of the hair/fur afterwards?

It's a rare thing to have nieces who think you are a good travel companion.

Pretty much, yeah. I think it'll be great fun, although I intend to skip out on the clubbing they will likely be doing.

Punishingly Intricate

oh man! My DirecTV box died! TRAGIC! I lost all the things I've recorded and have been saving to watch when Bob is out of town. Like, last week's Project Runway All Stars! Does anyone know if that's available online anywhere?

(I'm pretty sure I'll be able to watch tonight's Downton Abbey at pbs.org, at least.)

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

The best thing EVER for Emmett was having an aftercare program where everybody did homework, together, for 45 minutes before play time. Really got him in the habit. School was out at 3 and homework was done before 4.

It was gthe best thing my mom ever did for us as kids. I wish I were better about it as an adult.
