"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Our homework rule is no tv, no games, no toys, nothing until the homework is done and it starts the instant you get home from school. That ways it's done and out of the way. Em's is split up over a couple of days, but we get each day's done right after school. It's helped tremendously with the dawdling and fights on Sunday.

The best thing EVER for Emmett was having an aftercare program where everybody did homework, together, for 45 minutes before play time. Really got him in the habit. School was out at 3 and homework was done before 4.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

It was gthe best thing my mom ever did for us as kids. I wish I were better about it as an adult.

Art Crawl!!!

lisah - its online at the lifetime website.

The cornmean cat fur thing is interesting. Also, my friend's extra fluffy cat gets a clip (you know - lion clip) about once every six months and she's a much happier beastie for it.

My Sunday: lazed around, wound some yarn, did some knitting, and then went to knitting group where I knitted some more.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

When I take work home, if I don't start right off it ain't happening. Or I have to start at like 1 am when shit gets real.

Trust my rage

My friend's kids do this and I am jealous. My main issue is that she can't read yet so and adult being right there is a must. Thankfully, she does 90% after school with my dad.

My elderly cat gets a mat at the same spot. For two years. I cut it when it gets long but it stays in the same spot.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

(I'm pretty sure I'll be able to watch tonight's Downton Abbey at pbs.org, at least.)

You certainly will! Dooooowntonnnn.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

good after-school programs are like the best thing ever in the world wrt homework, especially those early years. Mac has zero idea how to study though and man he is hell-bent to not do ANYTHING with me. I am trying to see if there are things they offer in the upper elementary grades about teaching basic study skills, rather than just doing homework sheets.
