Congratulations to the class of 1999. You all proved more or less adequate.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Perkins, report. please.

I actually got a fair amount done tonight. I only got two boxes packed, but I did a lot of organizing and throwing out of stuff, and I have a sizable pile of stuff that it will make more sense to cart over to the house than to put in boxes that's now by the front door, waiting for me to load it into the car.

I think I am mostly done for the night, though--I am about to make myself a bourbon and ginger, put in a dvd, and shred stuff.

On a non-packing note, remember these: [link]

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

This is where I stole the recipe from. I just make a slightly larger batch: [link] When I make steel cut oats on the stove top, I inevitably boil over and sometimes over cook. Baked? Perfectly al dente every time.

I think next time, I might try coconut milk and mangoes instead of pumpkiny stuff. Or apples instead of yams.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

shredding is good pre-move. I probably moved 2 boxes worth of paper I did not need this last move.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ooh, I think I'll do some shredding tomorrow. YAY SHREDDING.

I was at a party tonight where the shtick is to bring your worst present and then they get redistributed. I got a travel beauty kit thing (clippers, makeup brushes, etc.), in a glittery purple case, and I genuinely LOVE IT. And can totally imagine the person who got it originally thinking WTF. So that was good. I mostly talked to people I already know, but hadn't seen in a million years. And my parents some. (The party was thrown by family friends.) I sort of feel like I need to re-learn how to talk to strangers, but generally it was good. Yay socialibility.

And I am still boggling over Sophia's "passing"/pork chops/etc. found comment.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I genuinely LOVE IT. And can totally imagine the person who got it originally thinking WTF.

That is the brilliant thing about exchanges: you get rid of crap and someone gets something awesome. Doesn't really matter that it's the same item.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I really like coconut milk and sweet potatoes together. And apples sound like a good option.

I have marked that recipe because it sounds amazing. Yum.

Because books.

I have that very one on my dresser mirror.

I went out and was social tonight, twice! I went to another local YA author/potential friend's book launch, which must have been attended by roughly 200 people, got super depressed, and then went BACK out to the after party to talk to other writer types, and have a beer. I'm glad I did.

I also learned probably sixty or more of the people at the launch were family, so I feel a little better about that. Plus, she wrote an awesome book, and deserves all her success. It's called Cracked/

Truth. There was some real crap floating around as well, but on the whole a lot of pleasantly surprised people, I think.
