"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yeesh, Ginger! Glad you're safe!

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Yikes, Ginger! So glad you are safe.

So today the SO called to get the Directv shut off. They bumped 50 bucks a month off the bill, kicked us up to the next highest package, and added Showtime & Starz. They almost added in Center Ice, too, which I would rather have had, but gift horse, mouth.

Comcast knocked a huge chunk off of my bill when I called to either downgrade or cancel too. And threw in the Sports Package (containing the Speed Channel, which is the biggest reason I keep cable) for free for six months. When did cable companies start acting like drug dealers? It's clearly working but it's disturbing.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I know, right? They gave me Big10, which was compelling.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yikes, Ginger!

I think if I called Comcast to full-out cancel, they might (MIGHT) do something for me, but they have a total monopoly here, so I would have to be ready to really go without everything. I don't even know what kind of internet I could get from another vendor.

ION, the feezer is kind of magic. I'm having soup for dinner, perfect for winter, but it is corn chowder I made right during corn season, so it is delicious! Mmmm.

brillig

Yeah, I got to experience someone's fender at far too close a proximity to my driver's side window coming home. "Oh, I have to swing wide for this corner--oh, if I slow down, I don't have to swing wide? Slow down? Isn't that was socialists do?" I hate SUVs.

I also hate this time of year when all the Christmas lights go off. So dark. The pumping station at the head of the valley, up on the side of the mountain at the mouth of the canyon always has a big star on it at Christmas, and I adore that star. I hate when it goes out.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I just finished talking to a guy with 55 pairs of sneakers and 700 *personal* FaceBook friends. I can't even hope to keep up...

On the other hand, I'm still dangling Dexter spoilers over his head. I've totally turned accidentally spoiling him into my own leverage.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I hope you are coming down from the adrenaline, Ginger.

I have to report that I have now finished Mockingjay (thanks le nubian) and I am just going to sit here and cry for awhile. Also, I did not skip.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Oh hey, someone just discovered that fandom organizes for stuff.

Do I bother writing and saying, "hi! welcome to fandom! been here for yrs."?

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Dang, you are a FAST reader!

Relatedly, we're about to go see Sherlock Holmes, and I was rattling off the movies I hope we get previews for. When I got to Hunger Games, I had to explain it to Tim, who is dubious about how a movie about kids brutally killing each other can get a PG-13 rating.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

From Allyson's link:

Of course, it’ll be fascinating to see if, and how, these groups scale, and if they develop into ongoing organizations

Ahahahahaha. Yes. Welcome.
