Plus, anytime you say, "The whole purpose of literature is to elevate," I want to smack you.
Ding ding ding! That sort of phrase makes me very angry.
Hey, what's a word for someone who gets easily distracted and flits from thing to thing? It's like a bird or an insect or something? It's possible I'm making it up. I know it's not magpie, and it doesn't seem to be mayfly. I want it to be an m word, apparently. Any ideas?
Hummingbird? (waits for x-post)

not a bird but dilettante?
Gadflies annoy. Flibbergidget is my first choice.
That or a cracked out squirrel.
Oh, flibbertigibbet! Wow, that's a word I never had to spell before.
Fabulous selection of words, thank you!
I came across flibbertigibbet when I was searching around... excellent word, but, yeah, never had to spell it before. Have sung it plenty, though. (For a long time, I thought it was a made up word they put in the song because it sounded all flighty and silly.)
My issue is the author of the piece is condescending and comes across like a tool.
This is often my issue. "It's not that I disagree with you on this particular subject. You're just such an ass. So please shut up."
