Punishingly Intricate

I made mushroom soup from the Ad Hoc at Home cookbook and it took a million hours but is very tasty. And there is a ton of it and an another ton of mushroom stock now in the freezer. I also made a delicious salad with roasted beets and got the vinaigrette recipe and crouton recipe from the Ad Hoc book. It's definitely for cooking on a day off.

You gonna out mushroom soup the mushroom people at the market? I always want to get stuff from them, but then, I don't really cook much.

It's been a long time since I've had theirs but I think this one was more complicated and hearty! I used some of their 'shrooms in it. Also some morels that we picked last May in Michigan.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

mushroom soup sounds wonderful.

In unrelated food news, I ate too much bean soup. It was nummy, but my innards are telling me I'm going to regret it.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Tell me about this mushroom soup, lisah. What's the basic notion of the recipe?

Mushrooms plus lisah-does-work equals awesome?

Huh. For the second night in a row, I've felt inexplicably awful. Last night I was a bit faint and queasy, tonight my head and neck hurt, plus the queasy is back. So odd. And it's hit at the exact same time in the evening.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Sigh. I made the best bread of my life today, and I will never make it again because it was one of those "Oh, CRAP I forgot I was almost out of bread flour: throw every grain I can find in until it adds up to 500g" creations.

I've made this recipe for non-bread things.

But I can't recreate it.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I want that shrimp dip that is cocktail sauce with canned baby shrimp over cream cheese with Ritz crackers.

They had that at the NYE party I went to! I didn't know it was a thing. I wasn't so sure about the cream cheese (might have better if it had been smoother), but obviously the shrimp with cocktail sauce worked.

I went to the running store today with my roomie, and they had a cool system to video you running, and look at the pressure as you stood on a mat...and apparently I have like, the highest arches ever. So now I have fancy shoes, and spent a bundle (and why are fancy socks so expensive?!). This better help me run better.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

and why are fancy socks so expensive?!

Because companies need to figure out how to make any sport, no matter how cheap in nature, really really really expensive?

signed,

Why is yoga crap so damned expensive? Shouldn't it be all zen and wabi sabi and non-commercial?
