"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

and why are fancy socks so expensive?!

Because companies need to figure out how to make any sport, no matter how cheap in nature, really really really expensive?

Why is yoga crap so damned expensive? Shouldn't it be all zen and wabi sabi and non-commercial?

Pumpkin snores. Loudly. Wheezily. With snorts.

I'm amused, and tangentially concerned.

I might be permanently marked for having cared for a cat with a chronic condition.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

The last time I went for a tooth cleaning they had a new guy filling in and he asked me if I ground my teeth at night. I told him not as far as I know, and asked if he was just seeing signs of wear in front of and above the new crown (where my regular dentist ground them down for some reason I can't fathom, since those last molars didn't meet naturally pre-crown). Aren't they supposed to look at charts or prior X-rays or something when consulting with a new-to-them patient who's been at the practice for a while?

I am hiring a new student worker. They find the job descriptions (mine is long and detail) on a student job website which instructs them to fill out a student work spplication and resume and send it to me (this is the same for all student jobs). Am I wrong for rejecting out of hand anyone who a) asks me how to apply b) sends me their resume and asks if there is an application they should fill out or c) sends me nothing but asks me about the job? I feel they cannot follow instructions.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

How hard up do you expect to be for decent applications that have been submitted per instructions? If you expect to have a wide choice, you'll be rejecting most of them for one reason or another. Being able to follow direction/show initiative/not make your life harder than it needs to be, may or may not be your biggest concern for the position; but regardless, it's probably a valid enough concern to allow you to narrow your options.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

What billytea said.

Recently one of my Facebook games added a "chat" feature, which 90% of the conversation is people asking for friends. Many of them ask "can you add me because I don't know how to add you?" That's not the way to recommend yourself to me, you're going to be a bad player if you can't figure out one of the elementary mechanics of the game.

Art Crawl!!!

Theo - that's so annoying.

Meanwhile: I am back at work. It's 20 minutes past the hour. Zero phone calls so far. I believe that there are 3 other people in the office.

And I am sitting at the main office front desk because the real main office front desk person has the flu.

At least I was able to finagle my ride to go through the drive through at Starbucks so I have a giant coffee. (Peppermint Mocha - yum.)
