Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

OMG. Tired. I can't believe it I timed it so I have a day's work tomorrow. Not sure what was going through my head there...

But I have a rental car. Enterprise's cheapest cars are $70/day! Not that I'm paying the daily rate, but motherfucker! That's about 3x the normal. I need my fucking title, and I need a fucking new car. Jesus.

One of my cousins sent me back with a cake to send to someone in the family she likes that I don't. Well, she didn't really send me--she never said anything about it to me at all, or even give me an address to mail it to. My mother insists we can meet in person, but I can't explain to her that I barely see people I like, how am I going to work in seeing someone I've been pointedly avoiding for eight years? Jesus.

Saw mother of second cousin once removed yesterday, and...I don't think I'm going to see her again. I don't think she'll live until the next time I go back to Jamaica. And she's not travelling again. Really sad. I lived with one or another of her kids for quite a while, although we're not related by blood.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Mmmm, I'm making a kind of turkey pot roast dealie and it's filling the house with delicious and homey smells.

I had to alter the recipe a little bit from the version I did last week, but I hope it comes out as well. Just thinking about how good it was is making me salivate.

Art Crawl!!!

Are you using an entire turkey? Or a turkey breast?

I had an Italian Beef, fries and a Greek Salad. It was good but pot roast sounds so much more tempting.

Turkey thighs, which I can only find at Safeway. But it's a lot of meat fairly cheap, has the big thigh bone to make the stock richer and I actually prefer it to breast meat. Two thighs gives me all the meat I need.

Last week I used a veggie stock bouillion cube to start the stock and then added more of the vegetarian French Onion stock I like. I was going to make soup but I kept cooking it down and adding garlic and some brandy and it came out so richly flavorful. Anyway, I started with a can of chicken stock and thinned it out with an extra can of water just to get it going.

Smells good!

Here's a recipe that's pretty similar to what I'm doing, sumi.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OMG, I just saw the ad for the movie where Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah have to work together to save a small-town choir. Do I see a choir field trip in my future????

Art Crawl!!!

That does seem like it would be tasty and not difficult. (Although I wondered about the point where they said something about removing the chicken and I wondered when was there chicken??)

will one of you come over and cook/bake with me tomorrow? The family I thought we were having over for New Year's is not coming, so I don't have that to cook for anymore, but I want to get some food made.

What temp do people keep their house at in the winter?

I will! I get off work at 1, so I should be there by 6?

I keep my house freezing -- like 65ish, but that's because I have the window open a lot for smoking and I pay for my heat.
