You know, with the exception of one deadly and unpredictable midget, this girl is the smallest cargo I've ever had to transport. Yet by far the most troublesome. Does that seem right to you?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Here's a recipe that's pretty similar to what I'm doing, sumi.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OMG, I just saw the ad for the movie where Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah have to work together to save a small-town choir. Do I see a choir field trip in my future????

Art Crawl!!!

That does seem like it would be tasty and not difficult. (Although I wondered about the point where they said something about removing the chicken and I wondered when was there chicken??)

will one of you come over and cook/bake with me tomorrow? The family I thought we were having over for New Year's is not coming, so I don't have that to cook for anymore, but I want to get some food made.

What temp do people keep their house at in the winter?

I will! I get off work at 1, so I should be there by 6?

I keep my house freezing -- like 65ish, but that's because I have the window open a lot for smoking and I pay for my heat.

It's hard and strange knowing you are seeing someone for the last time. I knew I was in the same room as my aunt for the last time when I went up there last summer. There was very little question of that (she died a month or so later) but we made like that wasn't the truth. Despite her being basically bedridden and on killer painkillers, it was as normal a visit as we could manage. It was good. But getting on that plane later, I was a weird mix of happy, sad and denial. I'd just had the most wonderful day for the worst of reasons.

ION, lungs are really not up to par, much as I'm pretending otherwise. I kept getting the goosebumps and muscle aches like when I hold my breath to the limit...about every other lap. And they were slow laps, despite my best effort, I just didn't have it in me to bump it up to my usual pace.

I need to vacuum under the bed more than every 6 months. OMG, the cathair. Took almost an hour to get it all up and I still am thinking about borrowing my neighbor's dyson to see if that can get absolutely everything up, just once.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Bedroom 60 (well, 59 because the next stable temp seems to be 63) and living area about 64 during the day and down at night. It'd be a little lower but old cat means I need to keep it slightly more comfortable for her.

I think they just meant turkey.

This is the French Onion Soup that's my magic ingredient. They sautee the onions in butter so it's not vegan but it's one of the richest vegetarian broths I've ever used. So much flavor.

That plus garlic and brandy (you could probably use white wine, but the brandy gives it a slightly darker flavor) really makes it rich.

I just threw in baby red potatoes and carrots and some mushrooms. It's pretty simple.
