"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Okay. Ew. What shuttle is this so I can avoid it?

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Gud, it's a deal! More kids in KC area for M to play with in summer, more Buffista see-age for me = WIN.

We just had our first family picture session ever in a local park. One of my BFF's bro owns a photoimaging and print lab, and I've know the photog for years and she gave us a KILLER deal, and Brad is giving me the family deal (i.e., free) for the small number of prints I need.

So we had the first set done, in a park, when we were all in nice clothes. Then the second set was us in our fave geeky t-shirts. I had on my Zombie Apocalypse Velma shirt, Dan his Axe Cop shirt, and M his new Angry Birds shirt.

I think they are all going to turn out SO well, Terri, the phtotog, is really talented and has been doing it for 20 years. We should have the prints by Monday, so M can take w wallet and a framed 5x7" with him.

Also? He is calling me MOM more than Erin now. OMFG.

I KNOW, amyth! I didn't think I would love it so much, but when he was getting his hair cut today and was babbling up a storm to the stylist about Skyfalls or whatever the hell it's called, he was all "And Mom and Dad are having New Year's..." and a little bit ago, when I was making him clean up a little bit, he was joking with me and was all "You're the MEANEST MOM EVER!"

CRA. ZY.

I never, never wanted to have kids, never would have HAD one, and the fact that I met Dan less than a month after the hysterectomy that I was perfectly happy to have is so weird...but I love this kid.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

This is adorable: JGL and Zoey Deschenel play What Are You Doing New Year's Eve? [link]

I'm not normally a fan of her voice...maybe she should do more standards.

I love that song (Harry Connick Jr. does my favorite version of it), and they are totally cute doing it! I would have expected her voice to be a lot higher. Shows what I know.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I like the She and Him stuff I've heard. Like this one. It's cute.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That's really sweet, Erin!

I just took it back to Astoria with taramosalata for dinner. YUMMERS.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Harry Connick's is my favorite version, too. I was OBSESSED with him in high college. I even owned the CD he made when he was a little kid.

Mom! That is so neat.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

OMG. Tired. I can't believe it I timed it so I have a day's work tomorrow. Not sure what was going through my head there...

But I have a rental car. Enterprise's cheapest cars are $70/day! Not that I'm paying the daily rate, but motherfucker! That's about 3x the normal. I need my fucking title, and I need a fucking new car. Jesus.

One of my cousins sent me back with a cake to send to someone in the family she likes that I don't. Well, she didn't really send me--she never said anything about it to me at all, or even give me an address to mail it to. My mother insists we can meet in person, but I can't explain to her that I barely see people I like, how am I going to work in seeing someone I've been pointedly avoiding for eight years? Jesus.

Saw mother of second cousin once removed yesterday, and...I don't think I'm going to see her again. I don't think she'll live until the next time I go back to Jamaica. And she's not travelling again. Really sad. I lived with one or another of her kids for quite a while, although we're not related by blood.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Mmmm, I'm making a kind of turkey pot roast dealie and it's filling the house with delicious and homey smells.

I had to alter the recipe a little bit from the version I did last week, but I hope it comes out as well. Just thinking about how good it was is making me salivate.
