Spike: Heard what happened up top, offing your dad and all. Don't know if you know this, but, uh…I killed my mum. Actually, I'd already killed her, and then she tried to shag me, so I had to-- Wesley: Thank you. I'm…very comforted.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Owen saw the Sarah McLaughlin ASPCA commercial and started crying today. He told me, "We need to make a donation to help lonely animals!"

Uftda. I assured him we donate to our local shelter to help. Poor noodle has zero emotional filters.

not your mom's socks.

Nothing says holiday like having to steer your father away from telling your daughter that Santa doesn't exist. Twice.

Oh, family.

(She's coming to her own conclusions, but still loves the mystery. And we want it to be her conclusion. And I'm just trying to think nice thoughts right now. It was going pretty nicely until dinner.)

Because books.

Mom is now playing Angry Birds on Sara's iPod and Dad has stolen my Kindle. The kids are playing Wii Golf, and one of the cats is sleeping in the middle of it all. And Stephen's gougeres came out so magnificently, I took a picture of them.

It's been a A Very Good Day.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Owen saw the Sarah McLaughlin ASPCA commercial and started crying today.

Well, it always makes me cry, too.

Dear heavens, my mother's chocolate chess pie is OF THE GODS.

Also, I think I'm going to bed soon. Eating a lot is hard work.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Dude! I just held an Olympic gold medal!

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Merry Xmas everybody!

We have had a good day all things considered. We had a visit from the Christmas lice fairies. Not my favorites.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

I think you and I may be the only people who like Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol.

No, Beverly, not just you two! In fact, I watched on Netflix last night! That and the musical Scrooge are two of my favorite versions! My third is An American Christmas Carol that Henry Winkler made.

aurelia, that is awesome!

Merry, Happy or Holy whatever to all!

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Nothing says holiday like having to steer your father away from telling your daughter that Santa doesn't exist. Twice.

Oh, family.

Heh. I just received a rant the other day about my friend's inlaws making up so many lies to perpetuate the Santa myth. She's afraid it's making her son stupid.

The Santa thing... it is... WEIRD. Just so, SO many weird dynamics.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

You guys, possibly the best thing about moving back up here is spending Christmas night in my own bed! Had a great couple of days with the family -- including a really wonderful service last night -- but I just don't sleep well in their house. I waited as long as I could and finally got up to see what time it was.... at 6:45. Oops. Ah well.

And the big news from the other side of my family? My cousin's husband has been nominated to be the ambassador to the US (from where he's from, which I somehow feel like would be too identifying to mention at this point). Fancy!

It is. This is admittedly less about myths and more about everyday weird family dynamics. I have a small martini now so it's ok.
